Alarm mechanism; wheels, pinions, and arbors. -Figs. 1 and 4 illustrate the known art in which a ratchet wheel 3 on the arbor 2 of the alarm spring 1 carries freely on it a wheel 4 which has a spring-pressed pawl 15 coasting with the teeth of the ratchet. This wheel 4 drives a pinion 8, centre wheel 9, pinion 11 and third wheel 13. Usually a dome-shaped spring 14 is clinched rigidly in an extension 15 of the ratchet wheel 3 and bears upwardly and frictionally upon the wheel 4 to keep the pawl 5 in engagement. This leads to retarding friction when winding the spring 1. In the invention, Figs. 7-9, the dome-shaped spring 18 is detachably secured to the wheel 4 by a slot 20 in the spring and a pin 22 on the wheel 4. The inner part of the spring is shaped as at 19 , 19 and when assembled the part 19 engages in a groove 25 in the extension 15, so that on winding the alarm spring the spring 14 and wheel 4 both remain stationary.

    • A radio-controlled clock includes a separation board that includes a main shaft and a first shaft of the minute arm wheel is mounted to the main shaft. An hour arm wheel has a second shaft that is mounted to the first shaft. A biasing member having flexible extensions and each extension has a bending portion which a peak portion that is higher than the flat portion. The biasing member can be installed between the separation board and the minute arm wheel such that the peak portions are in contact with the minute arm wheel. The biasing member can be installed between the minute arm wheel and the hour arm wheel such that the peak portions are in contact with the minute arm wheel. The biasing member can be installed between the hour arm wheel and the casing of the clock such that the peak portions are in contact with the casing. The biasing member securely connects the parts together so as to avoid wearing during operation.

    • A slip wheel arrangement of a watch movement in which a center wheel is provided with an integral arbor which, in turn is formed with a double-tapered portion. For a slip-on coupling of a cannon pinion with the arbor, the pinion is formed with an integral tubular portion which includes a middle resilient part and a thickened end part, and is provided with at least one inwardly projecting projection on the resilient part. The leading portion of the bore of the tubular portion has a diameter larger than the sum of a largest diameter measured at the forward part of the arbor from the double-tapered part, plus the coupling idle gap measured thereat, with the inward projection being positioned within the area of the leading portion.
