    • The emission of the various electron guns of a color cathode ray tube are measured and indicated preferably by a time sharing multiplexing technique where bright intensity producing emission generating voltages are fed between th cathode and control or accelerator electrodes of the various electron guns preferably in rapidly repeated sequence. The switching rate is preferably many times per second so the emission current values are displayed as steady indications on the faces of current meters with meter movements which respond to the average emission curent of the associated electron gun. A quick and convenient means for determining whether or not the ratio of the highest and lowest emission measurements fall within an acceptable range is provided by means which proportionately reduce the conduction periods of the electron guns, so the highest or lowest emission measurement falls along one margin of a band on the scale of the associated meter face whose opposite margin is at a value which indicates the limit of an acceptable highest to lowest emission ratio.

    • For the purpose of automated evaluation of white uniformity, the apparatus comprises a color television camera for picking up an image of white color displayed on the color cathode-ray tube, a circuit for separating color signals from the output signal of the color television camera, A/D converters for converting the analog color signals into digital color signals, memories for storing the digital color signals, and a computer for analyzing the contents of the memories. A nonuniform color portion is extracted from the color distribution of the display on the cathode-ray tube, and quantities of various features of the nonuniform color portion, for example, the hue, saturation and area of the nonuniform color portion and the degree of change in the saturation at the marginal edge contour of the nonuniform color portion are calculated by the computer to provide parameters used for evaluation of the white uniformity. Then, the white uniformity of the display on the color cathode-ray tube is quantitatively evaluated on the basis of the previous experimental, visually evaulated relation between the individual parameters and the results of visual evaluation of the white uniformity.

    • A beam from a test image is split into two paths. The beam in one path may pass through broad-band or narrow-band attenuators to the intensifier being tested. A portion of the beam in the other path passes through a hole in a reflector to the eye of a viewer. The intensifier provides an output beam, and this beam is reflected by the reflector to the eye of the view. The viewer thus sees an image that may have a lighter or darker portion, depending on whether the output beam from the intensifier is brighter or dimmer than the test image. Various attenuators may be inserted in the one optical path to provide tests of such things as intensifier gain, relative gain, or EBI on a go/no go basis.

    • In a method for estimating the remaining life span of an X-ray radiator that has been installed in an X-ray apparatus and is operational, under specified test conditions and at time intervals, a measurement value that is indicative for the remaining life span of the X-ray radiator is determined and stored in a memory. A forecasted progression of future measurement values is then forecasted from the instantaneous measurement value and previous measurement values that were determined under identical test conditions, which also are stored in the memory. The forecasted remaining life span of the X-ray radiator is then determined based on the forecasted progression and a limit value that is associated with the individual X-ray radiator, which is stored in the memory.
