    • An inspection apparatus 1 for solar cells 100 includes: a visible light source 11 adapted to irradiate visible light; a CCD camera 15 adapted to measure a reflection image based on the visible light reflected by an antireflective film of a solar cell 100; an infrared light source 13 adapted to irradiate the solar cell 100 with infrared light; and a CCD camera 16 adapted to measure a transmission image based on the infrared light transmitting through the solar cell 100. In the inspection apparatus 1, as a result of comparing the reflection image and the transmission image with each other, of areas respectively appearing as bright spots in the reflection image, an area appearing as a dark spot in the transmission image is determined as an area including a particle, whereas of the areas respectively appearing as the bright spots in the reflection image, an area other than the area determined as the area including the particle is determined as an area including a pinhole.

    • Provided is a pinhole inspection apparatus for can bodies capable of effectively preventing entrance of ambient light to a photodetector side through a gap between a movable plate and a rotating turret that may be formed due to a surface condition or the like. The pinhole inspection apparatus of the present invention includes: a rotating turret having a penetrating through hole; a movable plate provided on a stationary frame opposite the rotating turret; a can body holding member supporting a can body; a photodetector detecting light leaking inside the can body; and a light source irradiating the can body with light. The pinhole inspection apparatus is characterized in that a detour path formed by a pair of shield parts spaced apart a predetermined distance and opposite from each other is provided as a shield mechanism in an entire outer peripheral region of the rotating turret.

    • A method for finding holes, and other related defects and measuring characteristics of sheets of industrial material. Optical detections systems are constantly plagued by intense ambient light and challenged in accuracy. The invention exhibits a defect detection method and apparatus that is resistant to intense ambient light and is capable of inspecting sheets of material (410, 510, 610, 710) continuously, without integration of long periods. In the invention, synchronous detection between the optical transmitters and receivers is utilized. The invention is applicable for inspecting and measuring materials like paper, metal, rubber, plastic, aluminum foil, copper foil, film, coated metal sheet or any other sheet-like material that could run on a production line. The invention is also applicable for finding special defects like holes, pinholes, scratches, spots, cracks, edge faults, streaks, surface faults or any other conceivable defects.
