    • A method to dewater a fibrous web includes directing the fibrous web through a first press zone defined between a revolving permeable belt and a revolving permeable support belt and having a first press zone length. The fibrous web is arranged lying between the revolving permeable belt and the revolving permeable support belt. A fluid is caused to flow through the permeable belt, the fibrous web and the support belt at least over a section of the first press zone length. The fibrous web is dewatered in a second press zone following the first press zone and defined between the revolving permeable belt and the revolving permeable support belt, the second press zone having a second press zone length. The fibrous web is led through the second press zone between the permeable belt and the support belt, the permeable belt and the support belt each having a different compressibility.

    • A system and method for assembling components onto a circuit board is disclosed. The system includes: a thermal chamber for receiving a plurality of components therein and for heating the plurality of components at a predetermined temperature for a predetermined length of time; an outfeed slot located on a wall of the thermal chamber which allows at least one component from the plurality of components to pass therethrough and emerge externally of the thermal chamber; and a pick and place machine, located adjacent to the thermal chamber, which automatically retrieves the at least one component which has passed through the outfeed slot and automatically places the at least one component onto a designated circuit board. The method includes: placing at least one component into an interior chamber of a thermal oven; heating the at least one component at a predetermined temperature within the thermal oven for a predetermined length of time; passing the at least one component through an outfeed slot located on a wall of the thermal oven, at the expiration of the predetermined length of time, such that the at least one component emerges externally of the thermal oven; and retrieving the at least one component which emerges from the thermal oven through the outfeed slot with an automated pick and place machine which thereafter places the at least one component onto a designated circuit board.

    • To effectively seal the atmosphere within a chamber against ambient atmosphere, particularly for drying or curing of printing ink by UV radiation, vacuum drying, or the like, a pair of plates (12, 13; 33, 34) are positioned contiguous with a pass-through slit formed in a side wall (6) of the chamber, the plates being formed with recesses, grooves or depressions (7-11; 29) extending transversely to movement of the paper web. Ambient air is conducted at the lateral sides to the recesses or grooves which, preferably, in cross section are circular and formed as semicircular grooves in the respective plates, and suction is applied essentially centrally, with respect to the width of the web (2, 40) by suction pumps (19, 23) which may apply an increading degree of vacuum to the recesses as the wall (6) of the chamber is approached. The width of the ridges adjacent the grooves or recesses can be determined by replaceable strips (35', 36') or by eccentric rollers (34, 35) so that the width of the pass-through slit between the plates can be matched to the thickness of the paper web (2, 40).
