    • A tensioner for a power transmission system includes two tensioning arms operatively engaged with a strand of either the chain or the belt of the power transmission system. The upper end of each tensioning arm is connected to a one way rotational clutch which is pivotally mounted between the upper ends of the tensioning arms. The one way clutch rotates in one direction in response to changing chain loads to adjust the tension substantially equally on both strands at the same time. In order to prevent over-tensioning, a damping means is included in the one-way clutch. When a pre-determined overload threshold is reached, the amount of torque required to overcome the coefficient of friction of a spring in the damper allows the one way clutch to slip in the direction opposite from its normal rotational direction, thereby relieving the overload condition on the chain.

    • A belt tensioner for a belt drive system as a belt tensioner, a first belt tensioner pulley, a crankshaft pulley, an accessory pulley, and a power transmission belt trained about the first belt tensioner, crankshaft, and accessory pulleys. The belt tensioner is of the type that includes an attachment point adapted to be affixed to a stationary point relative to a cylinder block of an engine, a track, and a first carrier mounted in sliding relation with the track with two degrees freedom of movement. The first belt tensioner pulley is rotatably mounted upon the first carrier for engaging the power transmission belt. A resilient member biases the first carrier in longitudinal relation to the track. The tensioner further includes a travel limiting mechanism.

The first arm is rotatably supported at a first pivot. The second arm is rotatably supported at a second pivot. The first pulley and the first attachment point are each laterally offset in relation to the first pivot and substantially balanced in terms of parasitic torque across the first pivot.

    • A distributor apparatus is disclosed for spreading materials. The apparatus includes a container having a first and a second end and a first and a second side, the ends and the sides defining therebetween an opening for the reception therein of the materials. The container defines an outlet for the distributing therethrough of the materials. A distributing device is disposed in the vicinity of the outlet, the distributing device being pivotally secured to the container about a pivotal axis. The distributing device further includes a frame, a driven device rotatably secured to the frame for ejecting the materials from the container, a driving device for rotating the driven device such that the materials are moved from the container through the outlet by the driven device so that spreading of the materials from the container is permitted, a drive for driving the driving device and a guide for guiding the driving device between the driven device and the drive. The arrangement is such that an approximate sum of a distance travelled by the driving device from the drive to the driven device plus a further distance travelled by the driving device from the guide to the drive remains constant when the distributing device is pivoted between a first location adjacent to the container and a second location of the distributing device away from the container so that slack of the driving device is minimized during pivoting of the distributing device between the locations.
