    • A clutch plate assembly is provided having a friction interface and internal fluid passages for delivering pressurized fluid to the friction interface to cool the interface, and to reduce spin losses through the clutch assembly. The fluid passages comprise a plurality of primary passages extending inward from a clutch plate inner or outer diameter, and a plurality of secondary fluid passages intersecting the primary fluid passages for conducting fluid to the friction interface. Fluid is directed to the friction interface during clutch engagement for cooling thereof when the clutch assembly is engaging, and separates the clutch plates to reduce spin losses when the clutch assembly is disengaged. A method is also provided for controlling fluid flow at the friction interface, including providing fluid directly to the interface for cooling when the clutch plate assembly is engaging, and for reducing spin losses when the clutch plate assembly is substantially disengaged.

    • A disclosed clutch driven disc assembly includes a hub having an axis of rotation. A driven disc of the assembly is rotatably disposed over the hub and has a friction element disposed thereon. The disc also has a plurality of spring openings radially disposed between the hub and the friction element. A reinforcing plate having a plurality of spring openings aligned with the spring openings in the disc is fixed to each side of the disc. A cover plate having a plurality of spring openings is disposed over each of the reinforcing plates with the spring openings of all parts aligned. The cover plates are fixed to the hub for rotation therewith. A plurality of compression coil springs are disposed in the spring openings with the springs oriented such that relative rotation between the hub and the disc tends to compress the springs. An end cap is disposed at each end of the springs with a cap portion engaging the end of the spring and a pin portion extending from the cap portion disposed within coils of the springs whereby the pin portions prevent the spring from buckling when it is compressed as a result of relative rotation between the hub and the disc.

    • A damper disc has side plates adapted to be connected to a torque input part so as to coaxially rotate therewith. A hub is connected to a torque output part and rotates coaxially to the side plates. A sub-plate is adapted to torsionally turn with respect to the side plates and the hub and is disposed coaxially thereto. A first spring mechanism circumferentially connects the sub-plate to the hub. A second spring mechanism circumferentially connects the side plates to the sub-plate. The spring mechanisms include a plurality of torsion springs disposed in series and spring seat units interposed between the adjacent springs.
