    • A lubricant pump includes a housing in which at least one pair of intermeshing gear wheels is arranged for conveying lubricant. One gear wheel is rotatably supported on a drive shaft and the other gear wheel is rotatably supported on an axially shiftable displacement unit for adjusting a variable flow volume. Axially displaceable in a housing receptacle is a control piston for hydraulically adjusting the position of the displacement unit. The control piston is configured as composite structural part and has a central longitudinal shaft and cylinder rings which include control edges for clearing or closing control channels feeding into the receptacle. The cylinder rings are made from a material which reduces friction and/or wear with respect to the receptacle, and the central longitudinal shaft has at least one section made from a material having a coefficient of thermal expansion at least substantially corresponding to the one of the receptacle.

    • An internal gear fluidic machine, in particular a pump for the lubrication circuit of a motor vehicle engine, comprises an operating part including an external gear (2) and an internal gear (4), which is housed within an axial cavity (25) of the external gear (2) and meshes with the latter. The external gear (2) is associated with a translating mechanism (8, 22), arranged to cause an axial sliding thereof relative to the internal gear (4) in order to vary the capacity and the fluid flow rate of the machine. The translating mechanism (8, 22) defines a first capacity, adjustment space (24) in communication with a high pressure chamber (48) of the machine, and a second capacity adjustment space (15) where pressure conditions exist that are dependent on the operating conditions of an element, different from the high pressure chamber (48), of a fluidic circuit in which the machine (1) is connected. The translating mechanism (8, 22) causes the sliding of the external gear (2) in response to the pressure conditions existing in the first or the second capacity adjustment spaces (24, 15), or in response to the combination of the pressure conditions existing in both spaces. The invention also concerns a method of varying the capacity of an internal gear fluidic machine.

    • A variable capacity pump/motor has a meshing internal and external gear set disposed between an upper mandrel and a lower mandrel, each including a flange extending towards the gears to divide a pump/motor chamber into suction and discharge chambers. The inner gear is fixed and the external gear is axially moveable with respect thereto. The external gear and the upper mandrel move in response to changing pressures in the casing, allowing the motor to vary displacement and the pump to vary its output based on supplied fluid pressure or based on the speed of the prime mover. An external configuration includes a pair of meshing gears mounted on separate shafts in a casing. One gear is fixed and the other is axially moveable with respect thereto and moves in response to changing pressures in the casing. Each of the gears is sealed by a seal/bushing on a free end thereof.
