    • A carburetor with throttle shaft retainer system. The throttle shaft retainer system employs a retainer member in the form of a retainer pin or retainer clip that is pressed into the body of the carburetor to engage a retainer groove formed about or partially about the circumference of the throttle shaft. The interaction between the retainer member and the retainer groove prevents movement in the axial direction of the throttle shaft. With certain drilling and machined cuts to the throttle shaft, the retaining pin acts as the wide-open-throttle (WOT) stop when the throttle is rotated to a WOT position.

    • A combustible fuel supply system includes a fuel tank, a carburetor and a combustible fuel piping system. The combustible fuel piping system includes a fuel-feeding pipe, a fuel-drawing pipe, a vent pipe, and a switch valve. The fuel-feeding pipe interconnects the carburetor and a lower space of the fuel tank that stores combustible fuel. The fuel-drawing pipe interconnects the carburetor and an upper space of the fuel tank that accommodates air when the lower space stores the combustible fuel. The vent pipe is for fluid communication between the upper space and the exterior of the fuel tank. The switch valve is operable to obstruct fluid flow through at least one of the fuel-feeding pipe, the fuel-drawing pipe and the vent pipe, and is operable to switch between a fuel-feeding state and a fuel-drawing state for obstructing and permitting fluid flow through at least one of the pipes.

    • An electronic control system for a carburetor, includes: a transmission device (24, 25) linked to a valve (7, 8); an electric actuator (20, 21) for driving the valve (7, 8); and an electronic control unit (12a) for controlling operation of the electric actuator (20, 21).     • A carburetor includes an air inlet with a mechanically adjustable air valve, a mechanically adjustable atomizer discharging in the air inlet, and a mechanical metering device connected with the air valve and the atomizer, maintaining a stoichiometric ratio between amounts of air and fuel. Additionally, the carburetor includes a fuel pressure regulating unit to regulate the fuel pressure of fuel injected in the air inlet, based on one or more dynamic engine load parameters under which a vacuum signal in the air inlet is obtained via a vacuum intake conduit discharging into the air inlet. By regulating the fuel pressure also in dependence of the measured vacuum signal, the emission of unburned fuel is reduced under certain dynamic conditions of the combustion engine.

    • Use of an vibration damper to dampen vibration transmitted from an engine to a carburettor is found to enhance carburettor and therefore engine performance. The vibration damper is conveniently placed axially between the carburettor and an end of the intake manifold, and may take the form of a laminate of an elastomeric block adhered between and upstream and a downstream metal plate. Fasteners can extend from the metal plates into suitable apertures within the carburettor housing and inlet manifold without traversing the elastomeric block thereby enhancing the efficacy of the damper.

    • A modular diaphragm carburetor is provided which has a plurality of plates each with generally planar faces adapted to be mated and releasably connected together to facilitate manufacturing and assembling the carburetor and to permit various plates and components of the carburetor to be used in carburetors designed for use with different engine families. By providing a plurality of mated together plates, the machining of the passages through the carburetor is made dramatically easier when compared to the machining of a carburetor having a single body with end caps. Still further, the modular diaphragm design permits different plates and/or components of the carburetor to be used with other components to provide a carburetor having different performance characteristics and suitable for use with a different engine family. Therefore, a wide range of carburetors can be provided which have many of the same components to reduce the overall part count and to more economically manufacture and assemble a wide range of carburetors.
