    • The machine incorporates an air-operated striking piston whose body contains an air-distribution arrangement and a hammer reciprocating due to the action of compressed air so as to deliver at the end of a work stroke a blow at a drill steel arranged in the front part of the machine. Accommodated in the front part of the machine is a rotary impulse fronthead whose body contains an annular striking piston with projections and a rotary anvil with co-operative indentations and projections so arranged that their side surfaces and walls of the fronthead body form work stroke and idle stroke chambers which connect to a source of compressed air or atmosphere at regular intervals. The projections of the annular striking piston oscillate in these chambers back and forth and through an angle at a high rate due to the action of compressed air so as to deliver at the end of a work stroke a blow at the cooperative projections of the rotary anvil, causing to rotate the rotary anvil linked with the drill steel. Arranged in the front part of the fronthead body is a ratchet mechanism which assures that the rotary anvil and the drill steel rotate in only one direction.

    • A hydraulic hammer may include a power cell adapted to reciprocally drive a piston along an axis. The piston may, in turn, drive a hammer tool having a first end juxtaposed against the piston for accommodating cyclic impacts by the piston. While the first end of the hammer tool may be contained within a housing, the other end may extend from the housing for impacting rock, for example. The power cell and housing are axially secured together by a plurality of tie rods and nuts secured to ends of the tie rods, and the housing may include exterior pockets for accommodating the nuts. Each nut may have a circular exterior surface, and each nut pocket may have a generally elliptical interior surface, such that the exterior surface of each nut may be configured to engage at least two spaced apart areas of a corresponding interior surface of each nut pocket.

    • The device has a drill body, of generally cylindrical shape, connected by a flexible pipe to a high-pressure water pump placed on a low-height carrying vehicle. A striking piston is mounted movably, and is resiliently returned, in the drill body, and is subjected to a pulsed high water pressure so as to be moved with a percussive movement against a bit-carrying anvil, the pipe simultaneously transmitting to the drill body an alternating rotary movement about its principal axis. A solenoid valve, interposed between the pump and the point of departure of the pipe, receives successive electrical pulses causing opening and closing, which create shock waves in the water column contained in the pipe, which transmits these shock waves to the striking piston of the drill body. Applications: underground workings, mine workings, particularly for use in low-height galleries.

    • A hand-held electrically powered hammer tool with a rotor-type electromotor (17) and a hammer mechanism (14) arranged in a machine housing (13). The hammer mechanism (14) includes a drive shaft (24) with an excentric crank pin (35) thereon for a piston rod (43) connected to a drive piston (40) reciprocably movable in a cylinder (42) for driving a hammer piston (41) towards a working tool (16) via an air cushion (44) between the two pistons. The drive shaft for the hammer mechanism (14) is also the rotor shaft of the electromotor (17) so that the hammer mechanism and the motor are driven by the same speed.
