    • Operation force required for pivot operation of a movable body can be set almost constant independent of variation in the angular position of the pivoting. A pivot mechanism (tumble mechanism (10A)) has a floor-side member (B) fixed to a predetermined position; a seat-side member (12) connected to the floor side member (B) by hinge coupling so as to be pivotable in a predetermined angle range; and a torsion spring member (14)provided to urge the seat side member (12)in the opposite direction to gravity that acts on the seat side member (12). The pivot mechanism is constructed such that weight moments about a pivot center (13a) acting on the seat-side member (12) as the pivot mechanism move varies. The torsion spring member (14) has an urging the section (14b) for urging the seat seat member (12) and a support section (14a) that is supported by the floor side member (B). The support section (14b)is disposed at a position between a pivot track of the urging section (14b) produced by the pivoting of the pivot mechanism and the pivot center (13a).

    • A hinge assembly (100) for a foldable electronic device includes a shaft (1), a housing (5) defining a guiding groove (56) therein, a spring (2), and a pin (7). A first end of the spring is coupled to the shaft, and an opposite second end of the spring is coupled to the housing. A first end of the pin is coupled to the shaft, and an opposite second end of the pin is slidable along the guiding groove of the housing. The shaft is rotatable relative to the housing between a first position where the second end of the pin is located in a first position of the guiding groove and a second position where the second end of the pin is located in a second position of the guiding groove. The hinge assembly is thus integrated into a complete unit which is capable of providing a wide range of rotation.

    • A door closing apparatus for closing a hinged door in which a door closer is attached to a spring unit which in turn is mounted on the door frame by a bracket. The spring unit has a torsion spring within a housing which rotates on the bracket. One end of the spring is affixed to the housing and the other end of the spring is held from rotating by a ratchet type mechanism. The ratchet mechanism may be rotated to adjust the spring. The door closer is capable of adjustment by rotating the closer cylinder. In order to rotate the cylinder, it must be disconnected from the door. A stop on the bracket engages an abutment on the housing to prevent the closer from snapping back when it is disconnected from the door. The stop and abutment are also of assistance when adjusting the tension of the spring on the housing.

    • The invention relates to a method, and to an arrangement, for optimizing the operation of a door closer at different phases of opening and closing of the door. The door closer is provided with a force transmission shaft (1) turning in accordance with the movements of the door and with a spring element (2) operationally connected thereto. The opening of the door takes place against the force of the spring element (2). According to the invention, at the closing phase of the door the energy of the spring element (2), exceeding the return force of the spring element (2) needed to accomplish the desired closing movement of the door, is recovered through simultaneous braking of the closing movement of the door for the main part of the closing movement. When the door is only somewhat open any more, preferably under 5.degree., a final force securing the closing of the door is accomplished by making use of said recovered energy. For putting the method into practice, the door closer is provided with rotor (4), stator (5) and energy storing device (7), arranged to serve as an electric generator or as an electric motor as required.
