摘要： A garage door assembly includes a torsion spring counterbalance apparatus mounted on a header wall above a garage door, the apparatus comprising at least one spring wound on a shaft, and a safety device. The safety device includes a capture device mounted on the header wall above the garage door, and a shackle attached by way of a pin to a clamp device attached to the torsion spring counterbalance shaft at a location proximate to the capture device on the header wall, wherein the shackle rotates with the torsion spring counterbalance shaft. The shackle is capable of extending away from the shaft under centrifugal force to engage the capture device and thereby stop the garage door from further free-falling.

摘要： A fluid-based spring counterbalance mechanism comprising an elastic flexible fluid-based spring disposed between a first plate and a second plate, each plate having a surface in contact with an end of the fluid-based spring. The counterbalance mechanism supports some or all of the weight of a movable barrier. A mechanism is configured to compress the flexible fluid-based spring between the respective surfaces of the two plates in response to motion of the movable barrier. By compressing the fluid-based spring, the counterbalance mechanism provides a force opposed to movement of the movable barrier.

摘要： Methods of operating a fluid-based spring counterbalance mechanism for a movable barrier are used to support a portion of the weight of the movable barrier. A jackshaft is configured to be operatively coupled to the movable barrier such that rotation of the jackshaft raises or lowers the movable barrier. The jackshaft is operatively coupled to a rotatable input shaft of the fluid-based spring counterbalance mechanism. The rotatable input shaft is coupled to a flexible-walled fluid-based spring. Applying a first force by a movable barrier operator changes the position of the movable barrier, and the flexible-walled fluid-based spring exerts a second force that supports a portion of the weight of the movable barrier in addition to the first force.

The drop arm has an engaged position and a disengaged position. In the engaged position, the drop arm prevents rotation of the brake drive sprocket; in the disengaged position, the drop arm allows rotation of the brake drive sprocket. The door release mechanism includes a second brake having a brake sprocket rotationally coupled to the brake drive sprocket. The second brake is configured to provide resistance to rotation of the brake sprocket in response to rotation of the brake sprocket exceeding a predetermined braking speed.

The pawl member may have a pair of sidewalls supported by a top wall and an intermediate wall. The top wall may have a protrusion which includes a plurality of pawl teeth formed to complement the strap teeth, and be located proximate to the intermediate wall. The strap may be introduced through the gap between the top rail of an upper sash and bottom rail of the second sash, to then be inserted into the pawl, and thereby be retained by the respective teeth to secure the sashes.

摘要： An overhead door safety system includes a loading dock having a loading dock wall defining an opening. A truck and trailer door safety device is mounted to the loading dock wall. The truck and trailer door safety device includes a mounting bracket adapted for mounting to the loading dock wall and a swing arm. The swing arm includes an arm extension portion and a pivot portion. The pivot portion is pivotally mounted to the mounting bracket so that the swing arm pivots about a pivot axis between a retaining position and a storage position. In the retaining position, the arm extension portion is disposed beneath an overhead door of a truck positioned adjacent to the opening of the loading dock wall to prevent the overhead door from closing.
