    • A pool pump strainer having a rotatable trim assembly within a flooded housing cavity. A suction inlet and filtered suction outlet pair and a backwash inlet and backwash outlet pair are formed in and pass through opposite regions of a housing with at least 30 degrees between each part of a pair. A strainer disposed inside a conduit fixed between a pair of shutter plates makes up the trim assembly which is rotated between strainer and backwater positions by a stem extending through the housing. In the strainer position, water is drawn through the strainer to catch debris and then passes to the pump's suction side. In the backwash position, water is drawn through the flooded housing cavity to the suction side of the pump by a shunt. Thereafter, water discharged from the pump flows under pressure across the strainer to dislodge debris to be deposited into a catch box.

    • A structure for installing grate bars in a swimming pool having straight and curved section. The pool has a top gutter formed in concrete. The grate bars follow the concept of being parallel to a pool wall. A multiple of spaced apart elements support elements are placed over the gutter at predetermined intervals and fastened to the top of the concrete. A pre-assembled grid of longitudinal grate bars is placed over the support elements and fastened thereto. The pre-assembled grate bars are held together by lateral stays. In the curved section, individual grate bars placed onto the support elements one by one and are bent into the respective curves of the gutter. the individual grate bars are received between the spaces of the knobs on the support elements and snap fitted therein.

    • A leaf trap device 10 for use with a water recirculation system including pump and a water filter, for a swimming pool, comprises a housing structure 14 including a tank compartment 18, a filter device 20 mounted within the compartment 18, a discharge valve 22 and a control unit 24. The tank compartment 18 has a water inlet opening 30 and a water outlet opening 32. The control unit 24 is operable to control the operation of the pump and the discharge valve 22. The filter device 20 separates leaves from water entering the compartment 18. The leaves are collected in the tankcompartment 18. The control unit 24 switches off the pump and opens the discharge valve 22 at regular time intervals allowing leaves to be discharged from the tank compartment 18.

    • A filtration installation for a swimming pool (2) comprising a filter vessel (4) containing a filter bed (5), an inlet pipe (6) extending between the pool and the filter vessel, a return pipe (8) extending between the filter vessel and the pool, a reversible pump (9) enabling to generate, in a backwashing state, an upward flow of water through the filter bed, and a drain pipe (11) arranged for removing the water pumped by the pump in its backwashing state through the filter bed. In order to reduce the required controls of the installation and to make it easier for unskilled persons to maintain it, the upper portion (12) of the filter vessel is in liquid communication through the inlet pipe (6) with the water in the pool and the inlet pipe is provided with a one-way valve (10). The reversible pump is disposed downstream this one-way valve so that the water pumped upwards through the filter bed in the back-washing state of the pump is automatically removed through the drain pipe whilst in the reversed filtering state of the pump water from the pool is filtered through the filter bed. The reversible pump (9) may comprise a propeller (14) which is situated within the pool to create a current or jet stream against which a swimmer can swim-in-place.

    • A swimming pool installation including a skimmer device, a vacuum system, a pump and a valve module is disclosed. A seat divides the valve module into an upstream chamber coupled to the skimmer device and a downstream chamber coupled to the vacuum system and the pump. A piston having a seal is mounted in the upstream chamber for reciprocal movement in opposition to the seat and is biased away from the seat. A pawl is mounted to the piston for rotation and stops are mounted adjacent the pawl. The piston moves reciprocally in response to a cyclical application and removal of water movement there across caused by a cyclical operation of the pump, which causes the pawl to interact with the stops and cycle between a locked condition securing the seal away from the seat and an unlocked condition permitting the seal to move against the seat.
