    • A temporary prefabricated shelter for providing a temporary shelter which can be deployed quickly and in mass and secured through a central, internal anchor. The temporary prefabricated shelter comprises an underlying frame apparatus having disposed thereon a shell structure. The frame apparatus includes a first elongated rigid structural member and a second elongated rigid structural member fastened together at an anchor point. The structural members are identical and each have bent endpoints configured to contact a ground surface. An eyehook fastened to a ground surface provides a fixed point to which the frame apparatus can be attached and anchored to the ground surface through an adjustable strap. The shell structure is a rigid body contoured to fit to over the frame apparatus and be fastened thereto. The body of the shell structure additionally includes two windows, an air vent, a door, an electrical input box, and a light.

    • A tent is described that has a support system providing excellent head-room over the entire internal area. The tent is circular in cross section. A sidewall portion is joined at a defined transition to a generally conical roof section. Internally, there is a relatively narrow fabric tension shelf at the sidewall top transition. Atop the tension shelf is a semi-flexible compression hoop. The top portion may have additional tension shelves and compression hoops, depending on the size of the tent. An internal center pole completes the support system. The pole, tension shelf, compression hoop, and fabric act together as an engineered unit to provide an exceptionally stable structure.

    • A tensioned tent structure includes a flexible covering having a vertex portion and spaced corner portions and which has a selected geometrical shape in the erect position. The tent structure further includes an anchor for securing each corner portion to the support surface and a pole assembly that supports the covering in an erect state with the vertex above the support surface. The pole assembly has an extension and contraction mechanism to vary its effective length to apply upward force to the vertex portion thus tensioning the covering to draw it taut. The broad method of the present invention thus contemplates the broad steps of providing such a flexible covering having a vertex and corner portions, securing the corner portions to the support surface, positioning a pole assembly in an upright position between the support surface and the vertex portion and forcibly expanding the pole assembly to tension the flexible covering in a taut condition. Preferably, the tent structure has a base perimeter in the shape of a regular polygon with the structure shaped generally as a pyramid. The covering is formed of fabric panels cut to enhance the effect of tensioning forces. The invention also contemplates tent structures having a plurality of center pole assemblies.
