    • An insulating composite panel (ICP) 100, has an initial thermal resistance (R value) greater than about 50 ft2·° F.·h/Btu (8.8 K·m2/W) at a thickness less than 2.0 in (51 mm). The ICP is preassembled with a vacuum insulation panel (VIP) 102 protected by a lower rigid cover board 104 adhered to a lower surface of the VIP by a lower grid of adhesive ribbons 108, and by an upper rigid cover board 106 adhered to an upper surface of the VIP by an upper grid of adhesive ribbons 110. Each of the adhesive grids 108, 110 is augmented by a respective continuous ribbon of adhesive 112, 114 along the entire perimeter of each respective interface between the VIP 102 and each respective cover board 104, 106. The ICP has high resistance to wind uplift, mold, and fire, and low mass per unit area.

    • A new roofing system (14) for installation on a structure (2) whose existing roof deck (6) and membrane (12) may include depressed regions (8, 10) compensates for the depressed regions with contour cut compensation panels (18). Filler panels (20) are placed atop the roof deck, membrane and any required compensation panels, with opposed perimeter edges (64) of adjacent filler panels abutting. The filler panels are secured to the underlying roof deck with anchor plates (22) and screws (70), one anchor plate preferably securing four adjacent filler panels at the junction of their corners. The filler panels may have uniform thickness (58) or, if a sloped roofing system is to be fabricated, they may have non-uniform thickness (60, 62). Lengths (82, 88) of roofing material (76), such as galvanized metal, are laid atop the upper surface (72) of the filler panels and anchor plates and are secured to the anchor plates with screws (92). A coating (110) is applied to the upper side of the roofing material to seal the installation and to encapsulate any asbestos contained in the existing deck.

    • A rectangular grid of support members is secured to a continuous load bearing roof deck. The interior of each grid section is filled with a layer of insulation extending from the roof deck to the top of the support members defining the grid. A plurality of flexible metal panels are positioned above each roof grid section to form overlapping joints between each of the panels. A strip of sealant is positioned within each of the overlapping joints. The overlapping joints are sequentially compressed. Compressive securing means are passed through each of the overlapping joints and secured to the upper surface of underlying support members at closely spaced apart intervals to interlock the adjacent panels and to form a compressed, water impervious seal along each of the overlapping joints.

    • An auxiliary insulated roof system for mobile homes, metal buildings and the like includes a generally continuous panel structure of insulation material, a plurality of insulated support blocks for supporting the panel structure in clearance relation above the building roof surface and a plurality of fastening brackets for securing the panel structure to the building sidewalls. The insulated support blocks may include a base plate having a stud extended from one side for penetrating the panel structure and a block of insulation material secured to the opposite side thereof. The insulation blocks may be connected to elongated straps at spaced-apart positions therealong with opposite ends of the straps secured to the building sidewalls for partially securing the panel structure in place. A trim strip covers the fastening brackets and opening between the panel structure and roof surface.The panel structure includes a plurality of panels of insulation material, the panels having rabbeted ends and being arranged in end-to-end shiplapped relation. A cover sheet is secured to the exterior surface of each panel and includes an overlap portion at one end which is adapted to overlie and be secured to the adjacent panel to form a continuous panel structure.
