    • A septic leach line control apparatus comprising a hollow housing with tapered continuous sidewalls extending from a top to a wider base at the bottom. The hollow housing includes a flange extending outwardly from the base and a wider inner flange extending inwardly from the base within the housing. The inner flange defines a vertical elongated opening conformed to engage a pipe or similarly configured conduit, which has a top end and a bottom end. Also provided is a gate valve assembly, including a gate valve, a gate valve housing, and a gate valve handle assembly with a handle attached to an elongated rod at one end and to the gate valve at the other end. The rod with the attached handle extends through the pipe into the hollow housing. The bottom end of the pipe at least partially, if not entirely, encloses the gate valve assembly, or at the very least, the uppermost section of the gate valve housing. The top end of the pipe seals off the juncture where the pipe connects to the vertical elongated tubular opening.

    • The invention provides a method for washing an article and collecting the used wash water as well as a wash pad and a mobile apparatus. A wash truck is modified to include a water treatment unit and a submersible pump for removing used wash water from a water-proof surface, such as pavement or the wash pad. The used wash water is subsequently recycled and reused or disposed of without harm to the environment. The wash pad includes a bottom sheet and a containment wall that together define a containment area for containing the used wash water. A secondary containment area may be defined for wash pads that are used for the washing of vehicles. The wash pad may be rolled for storage upon a reel mounted to the wash truck. Other embodiments provide wash pads for use in washing rail-mounted articles, and the interiors of trailers and shipping containers.

    • An apparatus for blocking the flow of fluid through a conduit such as a sewer inlet or the like is provided. The flow-blocking apparatus includes an expandable bladder, a compressed-gas source for supplying compressed gas to effect expansion of the bladder, and a handle device for supporting the compressed-gas source while the bladder is positioned in the conduit to be blocked. The handle device is configured to permit an operator to actuate the flow of compressed gas to the bladder while continuing to support the compressed-gas source. The handle device preferably includes a base portion, a movable portion pivotable relative to the base portion and an actuating member movable in response to pivoting of the movable piston for controlling the flow of compressed gas from the compressed-gas source to the bladder. The apparatus also includes a burst protection plate which deflects compressed gas escaping from the bladder to thereby prevent any injury to an operator.

    • A flood stopper system is used to prevent movement of fluid from a floor drain system out onto a floor that is being cleared by that drain system. The flood stopper system includes a balloon-like inflatable element that is automatically inflated to occlude the drain system in the event of a flood situation. The stopper system is located in the drain in a stand-by configuration and includes a float that covers a fluid-sensor and is only moved when a potential flood situation is present. Movement of the float permits fluid to contact the sensor and upon such contact, the sensor generates a signal that is used to fluidically connect a source of pressurized gas to the inflatable element to occlude the drain system.
