    • A method to dewater a fibrous web includes directing the fibrous web through a first press zone defined between a revolving permeable belt and a revolving permeable support belt and having a first press zone length. The fibrous web is arranged lying between the revolving permeable belt and the revolving permeable support belt. A fluid is caused to flow through the permeable belt, the fibrous web and the support belt at least over a section of the first press zone length. The fibrous web is dewatered in a second press zone following the first press zone and defined between the revolving permeable belt and the revolving permeable support belt, the second press zone having a second press zone length. The fibrous web is led through the second press zone between the permeable belt and the support belt, the permeable belt and the support belt each having a different compressibility.

    • A vibration-minimizing suspension mechanism for a press roll is provided. The press roll and an opposing roll each having a rotational axis and cooperate to form a press nip adapted to impart a linear load on a fiber web passing therethrough. The linear load is oriented through the rotational axes of the press roll and the opposing roll. As such, the suspension mechanism comprises a suspension arm having opposed ends and a medially-disposed pivot, wherein the press roll is rotatably engaged at the rotational axis thereof with one of the opposed ends of the suspension arm. The suspension arm is further pivotably and adjustably mounted at the pivot so as to allow the pivot to be adjusted in substantially parallel relation to the linear load. The adjustability of the pivot thereby allowing a mounting line along the suspension arm, the mounting line being defined by the pivot and the rotational axis of the press roll, to be maintained in substantially perpendicular orientation to the linear load to thereby minimize vibration in the press roll.

An upper one of the dewatering belts is arranged to be guided away from the web in a separation path in a region of the separating roll. Lower dewatering belt and web wrap the separating roll subsequent to the separation path at a wrapping angle of at least about 30null.

    • A suction box for use in a press arrangement in a machine for producing a paper or cardboard web. The suction box includes at least one suction side suctioning the fibrous pulp sheet onto a transport side of at least one felt belt. The suction box further includes at least one non-suction side and at least one slit. A vacuum is created by having air blown out of at least one slit. The vacuum occurs along the felt belt in a run direction of the felt belt. The slit is positioned at an edge of at least one non-suction side of the suction box. The suction box may be disposed on an exit side of a press slit of the press arrangement. The press slit is adapted to treat the fibrous pulp sheet. At least one felt belt is guided, simultaneously with the fibrous pulp sheet, through the press slit. Upon exiting the press slit, the fibrous pulp sheet is suctioned onto at least one felt belt by the suction box.
