摘要： Handling apparatus for use in conjunction with a sewing machine and a stitching template for sewing the longitudinal seam in a prepared tie blank. The apparatus comprises a table (1) designed to accomodate a base plate (2) of the sewing machine in a rear central region of the table. The table defines a template loading station (47a) at a front part of the table and to a first side of the table center, a template presentation station (47b) at a rear part of the table and to the first side of the table center, a template delivery station (47c) at a rear part of the table and to a second side of the table center and a template return station (47d) at a front part of the table and to the second side of the table center. Positioning means (69, 71) are provided at the loading station to assist in positioning the tie blank on the template. First drive means (33, 35) are provided for moving a loaded template from the sewing machine to the delivery station; second drive means (41) are provided for moving the template from the delivery station to the return station; and third drive means (46) are provided for moving the template from the return station towards the loading station.

摘要： A jig for use in stitching together two layers of material on a stitching line defining a corner. The jig has a lower plate (1) having a slot (4) through which stitching may be effected, the slot including at least one corner. An upper plate cooperates with the lower plate and a fulling plate (3) is positioned between the lower and upper plates and has fulling means (6 to 8) on its upper surface for defining pleats in a fabric layer placed over the fulling means. At least one of the fulling means has an upstanding, pleat-forming member (11) which is positioned so that the pleat formed thereby extends towards the slot (4) at a line that intersects the slot at a location lying ahead of the associated corner (13).

摘要： A tie-tipping apparatus has a base plate formed with a throughgoing stitch slot having relative to a longitudinal centerline a pair of symmetrically angled end-seam sections meeting at the centerline and a pair of side-seam sections extending generally parallel to the centerline, symmetrically flanking the centerline, and crossing the respective end-seam sections. Respective positioning plates juxtaposed with the end-seam sections are adapted to press a piece of liner fabric and a piece of finish fabric against the base plate and are each movable generally transversely of the respective end-seam sections between a rear position longitudinally rearward of the respective end-seam sections and an advanced position advanced longitudinally forward and extending over the respective end-seam sections. An actuator connected between the base plate and the positioning plates can displace the positioning plates from their rear positions to their advanced positions.

摘要： A sewing machine for use with a template capable of holding together two or more layers of fabric that are to be stitched together, the template having a groove shaped according to the required stitching profile and engageable with a guide member projecting upwardly from a baseplate of the sewing machine, the guide member having a hole through which a needle mounted on the sewing machine passes to effect a stitching action, the template further comprising relatively movable sections for forming at least one pleat in an upper layer of fabric and so imparting fullness to that layer as the sections are moved together, the end of the pleat extending across the groove. The machine includes diverting means for engaging the pleat, the diverting means being secured in a fixed position on the sewing machine head to lie above the guide member. The diverting means has a needle passage aligned with the needle passage hole through the guide member. The machine includes drive means for effecting movement of the template relative to the guide member to drive the template so that the groove moves along the guide member. The drive means comprises a drive wheel having a periphery capable of engaging a drive edge of the template, means for rotating the drive wheel to cause this to move the template in a normal direction, and means for reversing the direction of rotation of the drive wheel to cause this to move the template in a reverse direction.
