    • Novel withanolide chemical genetic probes identify the in vivo binding target of withaferin A, which is the intermediate filament type III protein vimentin. In addition, a withanolide-based small molecule screening method screens drug candidates that target intermediate filament type III proteins. The method includes introducing a tagged linker covalently bonded to the withanolide molecule to form a withanolide probe. Better or alternative small molecule compounds as potential drug candidates can be generated based on their likely affinity for the determined binding site in vimentin. The affinity labeled withanolide can also be used to find intermediate filament-associated proteins using chemical proteomics by extracting proteins from cells that were exposed to withanolide-biotin analog. The withanolide probes can be used to monitor expression of vimentin, in tumor samples or other diseased tissues. Withaferin analogs can be used as a treatment for diverse vimentin-associated disorders, such as cancers, angiofibrotic diseases, and chronic inflammation.

    • The present invention relates to a transparent solid cleaning agent that is convenient to carry because it has solid pen shape, and has no concern of contents flowing because it is a solid. According to one aspect of the invention, a transparent solid cleaning agent comprising 10 to 70 wt % of gel forming material including alkali metal salt or ammonium salt of C8-36 aliphatic carboxylic acid, 2 to 30 wt % of a transparency agent, 2 to 30 wt % of a subsidiary transparency agent, 0.1 to 10 wt % of orange oil, and 0.5 to 20 wt % of anionic surfactant is provided. The transparent solid cleaning agent according to the present invention is convenient to carry because it has a solid pen shape, has no concern of contents flowing because it is a solid, prevents collapse or bending, and has an excellent sense of beauty because the contents are transparent.

    • Disclosed is a composition for removing a film from a substrate. The composition comprises a mixture comprising a water-soluble biodegradable alkyl ester, and a water insoluble biodegradable alkyl ester. Also disclosed is a method of removing a film from a substrate, comprising providing a coated substrate comprising a film adhered to a substrate; applying a composition comprising a mixture comprising a water-soluble biodegradable alkyl ester, and a water insoluble biodegradable alkyl ester to a surface of the coated substrate; leaving the applied composition in contact with the coated substrate for a time sufficient to create a portion of disengaged film; and removing the portion of disengaged film from the substrate. The composition also provides a method of making the disclosed composition, comprising mixing together an aqueous phase comprising a water soluble biodegradable alkyl ester, and a nonaqueous but water soluble phase comprising a water insoluble biodegradable alkyl ester.
