摘要： Curable compositions capable of giving a cured article excellent in weatherability and flam retardancy. (1) One of the curable compositions comprises an organic polymer having at least one crosslinkable hydrolysable silyl group and phyllosilicate. It has enhanced weatherability due to incorporation of the phyllosilicate, and has further enhanced weatherability because the bleeding of an ultraviolet absober and a light stabilizer is inhibited. (2) The other composition comprises 100 parts by weight of a urethane resin, epoxy resin, and/or modified polysulfide resin and 0.1 to 100 parts of weight of a phyllosilicate. It has enhanced weatherability due to incorporation of phyllosilicate, and has further enhanced weatherability because the bleeding of an ultraviolet absorber and a light stabilizer is inhibited.

摘要： In order to provide a liner which can be used in place of existing type liners used in a closure for a container, a multiple layer liner sheet is coextruded in a manner wherein the outer layers are skin layers formed of a gas permeable material. These layers enclose a gas barrier layer and a foamed layer which respectively prevent the invasion of oxygen from the ambient atmosphere and remove oxygen from the head space to safeguard the contents of the container. The foamed layer provides the liner with the required resiliency, provides space for the inclusion of an adequate amount of oxygen scavenging material, and also provides a cellular structure which allows the gas molecules the freedom to move and quickly come into contact with the oxygen scavenging material. As the gas barrier layer is formed of a material which does not readily become permanently attached to the material from which the foam layer and skin layers are formed, tie layers of adhesive are formed on either side of the gas barrier layer to ensure integrity when the coextruded sheet is formed into individual liners.

摘要： Bottle gaskets are provided from a thermoplastic composition comprising a homogeneous blend of butyl rubber with other thermoplastic polymer. The gaskets provide an effective seal at a moderate pressure but permit venting at a higher pressure. They can be made by inserting molten heated thermoplastic material into the bottle cap and moulding it in the cap and cooling it to form the gasket.

摘要： The inventive water-swellable caulking material for water-leakage prevention is of the type formed of a composition comprising a rubbery polymer and a highly water-absorptive resin and useful in the caulking works of a construction joint of concrete. Different from the conventional caulking materials of the type, the inventive caulking material is provided on the surface of a shaped body of the water-swellable composition with a coating film which is impervious to neutral water but exhibits water-permeability when contacted with an alkaline water of an alkalinity such as in an uncured concrete mixture so that the caulking material is prevented from premature or untimely expansion by swelling even when inadvertently contacted with water prior to application to the working site but capable of promptly expanding when contacted with an uncured concrete mixture with alkalinity.

摘要： A self-swelling leakage-preventing material is produced by reacting under heat a mixture of a copolymer of a lower olefin such as isobutene with maleic anhydride, a polymer emulsion having compatibility with the copolymer, such as an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer emulsion, and a compound having at least two functional groups selected from the group consisting of hydroxyl groups, amino groups and epoxy groups, such as ethylene glycol, until a cross-linked product having a swelling rate of 5-40 times is obtained. The mixture itself may be shaped into a suitable form prior to the reaction. A core material such as a non-woven fabric may be impregnated with the mixture prior to the reaction.
