摘要： A primer is useful for adhering cured silicones to low energy plastic substrates. The primer is prepared from starting materials including a) an organoboron compound capable of forming a free radical generating species, and at least one of b) an organosilicon compound having, per molecule, at least one free radical reactive group and at least one other reactive group, and/or c) an organoborane liberating compound capable of reacting with starting material a) to liberate the free radical generating species. The method for forming the primer may further include use of d) an organic solvent, and e) a free radical polymerizable monomer, oligomer, macromonomer, or polymer.

摘要： There are provided rolls comprising an air and water barrier article having opposing first and second major surfaces, a pressure sensitive adhesive disposed on at least the first major surface of the article, and a liner having a first major surface that contacts the opposing second major surface of the article, and at least two adhesion modifying zones disposed between the second major surface of the article and the first major surface of the liner, wherein both of a first and second adhesion modifying zones contact the first major surface of the liner, and wherein the pressure sensitive adhesive contacts a second major surface of the liner when wound in the roll. There are also provided films made using these air and water barrier articles and building envelopes made using such films.

摘要： A silicone primer is provided comprising an adhesion-providing component which is an alkenyl-containing siloxane of specific structure and/or a compound containing a substituent group having a functional group capable of radical reaction upon exposure to heat and/or UV and a substituent group having a group capable of reaction with alkenyl and/or SiH group. A release paper or film is prepared by coating the silicone primer on a paper or plastic film substrate, exposing it to UV to form a primer layer, overlaying the primed surface with a release silicone composition, and curing the composition.

摘要： Layers of siloxane tackifying resins that do not contain siloxane fluids, gums or polymers act as adhesion promotion agents. Articles include a substrate layer, a non-tacky siloxane tackifying resin adhesion promotion layer disposed on the surface of the substrate layer, and a crosslinked siloxane layer in contact with the adhesion promotion layer. The crosslinked siloxane layer is not an adhesive layer. The adhesion of the crosslinked siloxane layer to the substrate is greater than the adhesion without the non-tacky siloxane tackifying adhesion promotion layer.

The processing tapes include a backing, a pressure sensitive adhesive layer and a release surface covering the pressure sensitive adhesive layer. The backing is a dimensionally stable transparent polymeric film, and the surface on which the pressure sensitive is coated may be a treated surface. The pressure sensitive adhesive is a transparent pressure sensitive adhesive that includes a crosslinked (meth)acrylate-based polymer and has a refractive index in the range of 1.45-1.55. The (meth)acrylate-based polymer includes alkyl (meth)acrylate monomers and may include acidic monomers.

摘要： Composite materials and methods of producing the same are provided. In some embodiments, the composite materials can comprise a polymer substrate, an intermediary material, such as a metal or oxide, mechanically attached onto the polymer substrate, and an elastomer bonded to the polymer substrate on the side of the polymer substrate comprising the intermediary materials. The elastomer can be bonded to the polymer substrate irreversibly, where the elastomer and the polymer substrate cannot be separated at their interface without breaking either the elastomer or the polymer substrate. In some embodiments, a primer and/or an epoxy can also be used. Uses of material sputtering or sputtered materials are also provided to bond a parylene substrate and silicone elastomer, or to enhance the relative strength of the bonding between the two. In addition, composite materials, and the use thereof, involving a parylene substrate, an elastomer receptacle, and liquid silicone are provided.
