The panel (3) comprises a first panel part (10) which, being guided and supported by guide tracks (5), is movable substantially between a drawn-out position on a landing floor and a stowed-away position under the car. In addition, the panel comprises a second panel part (11) which, guided by the first panel part (10), is telescopically movable between a retracted extreme position where the first and second panel parts are disposed in a mutually nested and/or superposed relationship, and an extended extreme position where the first and second panel parts are disposed substantially in a mutually adjacent relationship. When the toe guard is moved from the stowaway position into the operative position, it assumes steplessly a suitable length between the aforesaid retracted extreme position and the aforesaid extended extreme position, depending in each case on the height position (h) of the elevator car (2) having stopped between floors relative to the landing floor (6).

摘要： A gate below an elevator car which prevents access to an elevator hoistway. The gate slidably mounts behind a toe guard and retracts upwardly if the bottom of the gate encounters a person, object or the floor of the elevator pit during downward travel of the elevator. The gate latches when fully retracted so that it may be out of the way during maintenance. A microswitch is wired into the emergency stop circuit that engages when the gate is latched. A trip wire defining the bottom edge of the gate is also wired into the emergency stop circuit, so that the elevator will stop its downward travel if it encounters an obstruction. Rubber bumpers on the bottom edge of the gate cushion impact to people or objects who happen to be below the elevator car and are struck by the gate during downward elevator movement.

摘要： An exemplary elevator assembly includes an elevator car having a frame member. At least one toe guard panel is moveable between a first position and a second position. In the first position the toe guard panel is situated to provide a vertical surface beneath the elevator car and the toe guard panel has an end spaced a first distance from the elevator car. In the second position the toe guard panel is situated with a second, shorter distance between the end and the elevator car. A moving mechanism coupled with the toe guard panel selectively moves the toe guard panel from the first position into the second position. An instigator member situated in a selected vertical position interacts with the moving mechanism to begin movement of the toe guard panel from the first position when the frame member of the elevator car is approximately at the selected vertical position.
