    • An apparatus to dispense salt, sand, brine or similar material under or in the area of a tire on a motor vehicle, including, but not limited to, a truck or automobile. The apparatus comprises one or more containers for storing salt, sand, brine, or similar material that can be used to melt or provide traction on snow or ice. One or more tubes or lines run from the container(s) to a position above or near a vehicle wheel, or in the wheelwell, where the salt, sand, brine or similar material can be dispensed via a dispenser directly onto the snow or ice under or proximate to the tire, or onto the tire itself. A pump is used to pump the salt, sand, brine or similar material through the lines. The pump may be integrated with the container, or may be separately installed.

    • A traction material dispensing apparatus including at least one of a traction material dispensing unit disposed within a wheel well of a vehicle, proximal both a front and a rear of a vehicle tire. Each traction material dispensing unit includes a storage cartridge, a mounting bracket assembly, and a solenoid housing. A solenoid, a knife, and a stopper are disposed within the solenoid housing. The stopper is in operational communication with the solenoid and is configured to block a pathway of the solenoid. A traction material is disposed within the storage cartridge. A transmitter sends a wireless activation signal to the receiver, which activates the solenoid, in turn actuating the stopper, which releases the traction material from within the storage cartridge onto a road proximal the tire.

    • An automotive friction assist system with improved traction enables a motor vehicle to stop quickly and start easily on low friction surfaces, such as those present during icy conditions. The system operates by introducing more static friction points between the leading contact edges of wheels of a motor vehicle. Additionally, the present invention provides a sensor to activate the friction assist system when the road surface temperature is at or near the freezing point of water. The friction assist system will increase static friction on a road surface and aid an ABS system on a vehicle to bring the vehicle to a stop in less distance than otherwise possible. The friction assist system will also increase static friction and aid a motor vehicle's wheel slip regulator when a vehicle is attempting to gain traction or forward drive momentum.

    • A vehicle traction material comprises a water scavenging agent such as an oxide, and a parting agent such as a stearate or oleate for keeping the material noncaking and free flowing. A relatively dense abrasive agent in either powdery or granular form imparts weight when carried in the vehicle and friction when spread under the vehicle tires. A nonchloride water-soluble melting agent from the group of compounds including nitrates, phosphates, sulfates and glycols liquefies ice and snow. The material is stored and carried in the vehicle by one or more bags (10) having an outer reinforced material (18) that is temperature, puncture and wear resistant and an inner lining (20) that is corrosion resistant and moisture proof. The bag is reinforced by gussets (16) and has a receivable closure (14) and handles (12), as well as stacking ribs (22) to allow several bags (10) of various sizes to be conveniently refilled, handled and stacked in a vehicle compartment.
