A spring-loaded member (30) urges the valve ball against the seal ring. By movement of the piston, the ball can be moved out of and into, respectively, a sealing position against the seal ring in order to permit and to prevent, respectively, the passage of pressure fluid to a drive chamber (17) in the tool.

摘要： An impact power tool for delicate hand working operations is provided which is especially adapted for detailed engraving, carving, and delicate stone setting applications. The power tool preferably includes a hand-held impact device, a piston received within the body of the device and shiftable therein for delivering impact energy to the device, conduit for delivering and venting motive fluid from and to the hand-held device for shifting of the piston, and a valve coupling the directing and venting conduits to the device in alternative fashion at rapid, variable, cyclical rate. The impact tool may be operated by connection to a standard source of pressurized air. The tool is capable of providing a greater range of impact strokes per second than conventional hand-held controlled impact tools, and thereby provides expanded capability for extremely delicate and fine engraving, carving and stone setting work.

A single-tipped marking instrument is moved with a prescribed motion parallel to the surface as the device is moved across the surface to create a relatively dense array of line patterns. Simultaneously, received control signals cause the tip to move in and out of contact with the surface for, in effect, masking the array to produce characters represented by those signals.

摘要： A system for automatic simulation by computerized machinery of a hand-engraved pattern in a workpiece. The present system, while concerned primarily in the simulation of engraving patterns by a machine process, nonetheless is applicable to the generation or regeneration of a variety of intricate patterns. In such respect, the process may be useful in copying decorative patterns for printed cards, reproducing of contour maps, and a myriad of other purposes involving the simulation of contours or of a pattern of lines existing in multi-dimensional space. The invention introduces several novel aspects to the art of computerized machinery, and particularly to numerically controlled machinery having multi-axis operation, with one of the major objectives being a reduction of volume of control tape and operation time. The present system usually involves two computers: (1) a digital computer for generating a control tape numerically representative of the pattern to be reproduced; and (2) a digital control computer for controlling a multi-axis machine to regenerate the pattern stored on the control tape.
