    • A method and an apparatus for continuously sizing, preforming or forming metal objects include a plurality of molds arranged in a substantially vertical column and which collectively define a mold cavity. Each mold is separable into at least two mold sections. A retaining mechanism retains the molds in the vertical column. A first and second hydraulic arm assembly separates the bottom mold into sections and removes with a first hydraulic arm the mold sections from the bottom of the mold column and places the sections at the bottom of an adjacent vertical column of mold sections. A second hydraulic arm then pushes the adjacent column of sections upwardly and a third hydraulic arm positions a top mold section from each adjacent column of sections to form a top mold on the vertical mold columns.

    • A continuous molding machine having a stand with a top platform. Mounted on the top platform is a stationary plate in which a first pair of laterally spaced vertical shafts are rotatably supported. A laterally adjustable plate is also mounted on the top platform and it has a second pair of laterally spaced vertical shafts rotatably supported thereon. Adjustable pressure plate structure is mounted on the top platform to vary the lateral spacing between the stationary plate and the adjustable plate. Sprocket gears are mounted on each of the shafts and separate chains pass around the sprocket gears on the first and second pair of laterally spaced shafts. Secured to the outer surface of these chains are a plurality of pressure plates. Closed loop blets made of a flexible material such as vulcanized rubber pass around the pressure plates on the respective chains and they have a plurality of mold cavities in their outer faces. The mold cavities have sprue cavities extending upwardly to the top of the belts and the individual sprue cavities are connected together by a runner cavity so that the articles being cast are connected together in one continuous piece of molded material. A cover encloses the first and second closed loop conveyors and it has a window in one of its walls for observing and monitoring the molding operation.

    • An easily separable uniform multi-layer structure, as a prefinal product, made of a material such as synthetic resin is prepared continuously and economically by constantly dispensing streams of viscous liquid from above into a continuous series or open top, flat-bottomed receptacles as they move in one direction at a constant speed on the horizontal surface of at least one straight section of an endless looped conveyor means to first form a uniform layer of said liquid on the entire floor surface of each receptacle, thereafter depositing a partition sheet material such as paper which is non-adhesive to said viscous liquid onto the upper surface of each of said layers of liquid, and repeating the foregoing steps as said receptacles are continuously carried forward on said looped conveyor. Said multilayer structure can be easily separated into a plurality of independent layers by subsequently removing the non-adhesive partition sheets from the formed initial multi-layer structure after the remaining components of the latter are solidified and united together within themselves by a treatment such as heatsetting.
