摘要： A box-section arm of an excavator or the like has a pivot axis at one side. Two flat plates 25, 26 close the underside of the box-section adjacent the pivot axis, and are welded transversely from a pair of projections 28, 29 at one side, to corresponding pair of projections 28, 29 at the other side. The projections 28, 29 are partially but not wholly removed after welding.

摘要： In a joining structure of a lid box according to an embodiment of the invention, a joining area where a joining surface of a joining portion of a side outer panel faces a joining surface of a joining portion of the lid box includes a first area where the joining surfaces come into contact with each other and are supposed to be subjected to spot-welding and a second area where the joining surfaces are separated from each other by a predetermined gap and are supposed to be subjected to laser-welding, and the spot-welding is performed on the first area or the laser-welding is performed on the second area. For that reason, since the joining states respectively suitable for the spot-welding and the laser-welding are realized, sufficient welding quality is ensured in both the spot-welding and the laser-welding.

The resulting bond is capable of preventing corrosion (e.g., electric corrosion) resulting from contact of the dissimilar metals and obtains a dissimilar material joint exhibiting anti-corrosive property and bonding strength at low costs. Laser welding is initiated by directing a laser beam toward one of the flange of the fastener and the first panel. Gas is vented from an area between the first surface of the flange and the surface of the first panel. The flange is laser welded to the first panel.

The differential casing has a circular flange with an axially extending lip engaged in a circular groove of the crown wheel, which is further relieved at a radially outer side to give clearance for a high energy welding beam.
