    • Damaged threads in a blind tapped hole are repaired with a tap having an elongated shaft with a plurality of outer faces, and a plurality of flutes corresponding to the number of shaft outer faces, each flute has an outer face with a lower segment with cutting threads corresponding to the hole threads, and is moveable radially between a closed position toward the longitudinal axis and a radially expanded position in which the threads of the flute outer face mesh with the threads of the hole. The tap is inserted into the hole while the flutes are in the closed position so that the cutting threads are below the damaged threads. The shaft is then inserted between the flutes to move the flutes to their expanded positions meshing the cutting threads with undamaged threads below the damaged threads. The tap is then rotated to repair the damaged threads.

    • An apparatus for cleaning of tubular threads having adjustable spacing brushes to accommodate tubulars of different diameters. A plurality of brushes are rotated in a drum, which fits over the tubular connection. The brushes are mounted on L-shaped brackets, which are in turn mounted to a rotary driver by a shaft extending through slots in the brackets. By loosening the attachment of the brackets on the rotary driver, the brackets can be slid radially inward or outward to the extent of the slots, thereby adjusting the diameter of the threads that can be cleaned. The front access plate and seal plate, through which the tubular extends into the drum, are preferably held to the drum by hand operable latches. Solvent may be injected into the drum and onto the threads by a hand pump, and captured in the drum and drained into a container for disposal or reuse.

    • An apparatus for grinding a threaded portion of a workpiece, is provided. The threaded portion has a spiral groove formed therein. The apparatus includes a motor, a grinding cord, a detector and a controller. The motor has a rotary portion for rotating the threaded portion of the workpiece about an axis. The grinding cord is configured for being looped around the threaded portion of the workpiece with a middle part thereof engagingly received in a given portion of turns of the spiral groove for grinding the thread portion of the workpiece. The detector is for detecting a rotating cycle of the rotary portion. The controller is communicatively coupled to the detector for controlling the rotary portion to selectively rotate in a first rotating direction or in a reverse second rotating direction based on the received signal from the detector.
