    • A method of producing steel with reduced internal stress concentrations is disclosed. In an embodiment, hot steel is shaped by a rolling mill. The resultant steel product is bundled as soon as practicable and the bundle is allowed to cool. Vibration energy is applied to the bundle of steel product so that internal stress concentrations within the steel product are relieved. In an embodiment, a plurality of bundles are stored on a rack and the rack is vibrated, the vibrations being transmitted to the plurality of bundles so that undesired internal stress concentrations within the steel products are relieved. Alternatively, magnetics may be used to relieve the undesired internal stress concentrations within the steel products. Thus, improved steel is produced as well as improved steel that can be produced more rapidly than known techniques.

    • A method using high interior pressure to reshape structural section of continuously bounded overall cross-section, whereby the overall cross-section can be provided with extra walls or chambers and a stopper is forced radially against each end of the piece. The object is to reduce wear on the stopper while ensuring that any walls or chambers in addition to its overall cross section will buckle or bulge only at their ends. Either any walls (2 & 3) that partition the chambers (4, 5, & 6) and any independent wall (7) are provided with slots (17) at the ends of the piece that parallel the inner surface (18) and outer surface of the piece or the stopper (8) itself is provided with grooves (19) adjacent to and matching the shape of the walls.

    • A feed channel for elongated workpieces including a plurality of adjustable workpiece receiving openings. Each opening is formed by a plurality of profiled segments including a fixed segment and at least one movable segment. The movable segments are movable to expose the openings for lateral introduction thereinto of an elongated workpiece. The movable segments are then moved to reduce the size of the openings and engage the workpiece for at least partially straightening same. The movable segments are then moved to increase the size of the openings for providing longitudinal and rotational movement of the workpiece relative to the openings. Workpieces are smoothly carried into the feed channel instead of being rolled or dropped thereinto. The fixed segments are positioned and profiled for locating the longitudinal axes of various diameter workpieces in the same plane.
