    • A combination for use in storing and applying moisture curable materials which includes (1) a container assembly with a tubular wall of moisture vapor transmissive polymeric material having an inner surface defining a chamber and a plunger within the tubular wall adapted to move along the wall toward an outlet end in sealing engagement with an inner surface of the wall; (2) a moisture curable material within the chamber which is solid at normal room temperature, is softenable to a suitable viscosity for application of less than 30,000 centipoise when heated to a temperature in the range of about 140 to 230 degrees Fahrenheit or 60 to 110 degrees Centigrade, and has little adhesion to the wall, even when said adhesive is moisture cured; and (3) an envelope of moisture impermeable material around the container assembly.

    • The present invention relates to a glue gun for selectively supply molten adhesive. The glue gun comprises a housing, an actuator movable between actuated and non-actuated positions, and a nozzle configured to allow molten adhesive to flow therethrough. The housing an adhesive receiving chamber fluidly communicated with the nozzle. The chamber has an opening at one end thereof for allowing a supply of solidified adhesive to be inserted into said chamber. A heating element is associated with the chamber. The heating element is operable to apply heat to the lead end portion of the solidified adhesive supply sufficient to melt the lead end portion when an electric signal is applied to the heating element. A heating element controller operates to allow the electric signal to flow to the heating element for a period of time after the actuator has been moved to its non-actuated position and to thereafter prevent the electric signal from flowing through the heating element at the end of the time period. The present invention also relates to a timing circuit for controlling the amount of time an electric signal is supplied to an operative element.

    • A low wattage device for heat-liquefying material is described which employs a low volume mass electrical heat exchanger structure to generate a high power density within a dispensing tip; and simultaneously by actuation of an operator controlled momentary on/off switch for energizing the heat exchanger structure heater, the heat-liquefiable material is pressed into effective contact with the heat exchanger structure. The heat exchanger structure is formed by positioning a resistive heating element in contiguous relation to the outer wall of a low volume thermal conducting mass formed into a heat-liquefying material conductor and generates sufficiently high heat at a relatively low wattage to effectively achieve the desired melting within a few seconds. In a further feature, an insulating shield partially envelopes the heat exchanger structure to prevent contact with the resistive heating element and to minimize heat loss.

    • The structure comprises a fluid operated cylinder driving a piston rod in a barrel adapted to be connected to a mold for injection. The piston rod extends from one-half to two-thirds the length of the barrel whereby the molten portion of solid plastic cartridges is ejected by the piston rod pushing on the solid portion of the cartridges The piston rod has one or more lateral recesses to catch molten material that may escape rearwardly past the solid cartridges. Novel indicators are employed to monitor plastic flow. The inner surface of the barrel is tapered adjacent the outlet end thereof for efficient flow of molten material. The barrel at an ejecting nozzle thereof is heated by a torch or by a heat band secured thereto. An inner core is provided for efficiently mixing and heating the plastic. A thermocouple and an electrically operated display device are combined with a temperature adjusting device for providing controlled temperature conditions. A swivel support is mounted on the rear of the tool for supporting it in an operating function. In one embodiment, the piston for driving the piston rod is hydraulically driven by a gas pressure piston cylinder assembly connected thereto by a flexible hose.
