摘要： A chambered ion reflux device for ion chromatography which electrolytically produces an eluent from a water pumped phase, suppresses the eluent and recovers (refluxes) the eluent ions for reuse. In the chambered ion reflux device, the eluent never passes through the electrode chambers. Since the eluent ions are refluxed and the eluent is produced electrolytically, the chambered ion reflux device can be used for isocratic or gradient ion chromatography. A chambered ion reflux device which integrates an electrolytic ion removal chamber is also disclosed.

摘要： Presented herein is a ligand-assisted elution chromatography process for the separation of metal ions using a sorbent. An inorganic sorbent, titania, for example, has three types of adsorption sites: Bronsted acid (BA), Bronsted base (BB), and Lewis acid (LA). At a high pH, the BA sites can interact with the metal ions as a cation exchanger. If a ligand with COO groups is preloaded onto the sorbent, the COO— groups of the ligand can adsorb onto the LA sites. The adsorbed. ligands become strong adsorption sites for the metal ions. If the Langmuir a value for metal ion adsorption is similar to that of metal ion complexation with the ligand in the mobile phase, the different metal ions can be eluted separately with an overall selectivity which is equal to the ratio of the ligand selectivity to the sorbent selectivity.

摘要： A method for preparing a liquid flow having pre-defined characteristics by mixing liquid flows of at least two different component stock solutions with each other comprises the steps of determining a selected property value for one or more of the stock solutions by sensing, in a flow of each stock solution separately, at least one characteristic related to the property value for the stock solution, and based on the determined property value or values, mixing the stock solution flows in mixing ratios giving the desired mixed liquid flow. A system for carrying out the method comprises sensor means and a control unit, wherein the control unit is arranged to evaluate the characteristics sensed by the sensor means and provide relative ratios of stock solutions required to obtain a mixed liquid flow having the pre-defined characteristics.

From the solvent sources, the gradient proportioning valve produces a low-pressure gradient stream. A first pump is in fluidic communication with the gradient proportioning valve to receive, pressurize, and move the pressurized low-pressure gradient stream to a flow-combining device. A second pump operates in parallel with the first pump and moves a pressurized solvent stream to the flow-combining device where the pressurized solvent stream combines with the low-pressure gradient stream to produce a high-pressure gradient stream. A second gradient proportioning valve can produce, from a second plurality of sources of solvent, a second low-pressure gradient stream, wherein the solvent stream moved by the second pump to the flow-combining device and combined with the other low-pressure gradient stream comprises the second low-pressure gradient stream.
