    • The invention relates to a port for a catheter comprising a housing (10, 11), a chamber (120) disposed in the housing (10, 11) in order to accommodate a medical active substance, a connecting piece (122) for connection of a catheter (2), in order to produce a flow connection between the chamber (120) and the catheter (2), and at least one lever (14, 15) which is mounted pivotably about a pivot axis (102, 103) of the housing (10, 11), wherein the at least one lever (14, 15) is designed such that, in a first pivot position, the lever allows application of the catheter (2) to the connecting piece (122) and, in a second pivot position, the lever holds the catheter (2) in a clamping manner on the connecting piece (122). To this end the at least one lever (14, 15) has a first lever section (141, 151) and a second lever section (142, 152) which is different from the first lever section (141, 151), wherein the first lever section (141, 151) has a latching device (147, 157) for latching the at least one lever (14, 15) to the housing (10, 11) and/or to a first lever section (141, 151) of a further lever (14, 15) in the second pivot position, and the second lever section (142, 152) has a clamping device (146, 156) for holding the catheter (2) by clamping in the second pivot position. In this way a port for a catheter is provided, which with simple handling makes it possible to hold a catheter reliably at the port.

    • Generally described herein are apparatus, systems and methods related to a pre-loaded septum insertable in an access port housing for increasing the control of the compression within the septum and the interference between the septum and the housing. For example, a pair of washers having mating portions may be positioned on respective sides of a rubber septum and bent such that the mating portions of one of the washer are interlocked with the mating portions of the other washer, the interlocked portions forming a tight ring about the septum and generating lateral compression on the septum, thereby “loading” the septum. In addition, fluid seals made of a rubber material with lower durometer than the rubber septum may be used at the interface between the rubber septum and the housing to enhance the fluid sealing functionality while promoting the self-sealing features of the rubber septum.

    • An implantable vascular access port for providing repeated therapy to a patient in need of such therapy, the access port, upon repeated use, presents each time an access needle at a new location so as to minimize scarring injury to the skin of the patient. The vascular access port may include a body, a cover comprising a plurality of openings, at least one needle comprising a tip and a shaft, the shaft defining a lumen, a needle elevator mechanism to operate the position of the at least one needle in at least a retracted position in which the at least one needle is disposed in the body and the needle tip below the cover and an extended position in which the at least one needle is engaged through at least a first one of the openings, and a needle shift mechanism to move the at least one needle from a first position in which the needle can engage the at least a first one of the openings, to a second position in which the needle can engage at least a second one of the openings.
