    • The invention relates to a jug, particularly to a jug, an electrothermal jug and a wireless electrothermal jug for cooking beverage. The jug for cooking beverage includes a body, an inner container on the inner bottom of the body. A funnel is provided on the up-port of the inner container. The inner container is heated so that the water in the inner container is boiling away, rolling upwards, and scouring coffee powder or tealeaf in the funnel, thereby forming tea or coffee, so the residue of tealeaf or coffee powder is separated from the tea or coffee. The beverage is drunk expediently and spicy, the user of the jug is scalded uneasily.

    • A thermally sensitive, overheat protection control for a thick film electric heater comprises a bimetallic actuator (68) arranged for making good thermal contact with the heater, and a moveable electrical contact (78) for engagement with a contact provided on the heater.     • A control for engagement with the external base of a liquid heating vessel comprises a carrier mounting two bimetallic actuators at opposite ends thereof. The actuators operate at the same temperature. Attached to the carrier is a moulding which provides a cordless electrical connector for the vessel, as well as mounting switch means operable by the actuators through push rods. The push rod acts on a leaf spring to open the contacts, and upon further movement engages an arm of a trip lever, so tripping the lever and causing a further arm of the lever to engage the leaf spring open the contacts fully.

    • An electric immersion heating element dry switch-on or boil dry protector unit for an electrically heated water boiling vessel comprises primary and secondary bimetals (31,32) responsive to the heating element head temperature and each arranged for actuating a respective one of primary and secondary switching contacts (11,12) connected in the line and neutral sides of the heating element supply via respective push rods (38,44). The secondary bimetal (32) is arranged to break later than the primary bimetal (31) in a dry switch-on or boil dry situation giving rise to excessive element temperatures, and to reset before the primary in a reducing temperature situation. The secondary bimetal (32) and associated switch contacts (12) provide back-up protection in the event of failure of the primary protection on account for example of welding of the primary switch contacts (11). A neon warning lamp connected across the secondary contacts (12) will be lit only if the secondary contacts open with the primary contacts closed and thus indicates failure of the primary protection. An advantageous manually releasable latching arrangement for the primary and/or secondary switching contacts is also provided. An additional bimetal subject to heating by steam vented from the vessel operates at least one of the switch contacts when water boils in the vessel to terminate the heating operation.
