To arrange the rotor housing in a favorable way inside of the combine harvester, it is suggested to use a feeder house which comprises elements which distribute harvested material from the cutterbar in an up and rearward direction towards its discharge end, said discharge end being arranged in a height substantially above of the rotational axis of the front wheels and in a region before the rotational axis of the front wheels, the discharge end feeds the harvested material into the feeding opening of the rotor housing of the separation unit being arranged in the upper half of it, whereby the rotor housing reaches with its front from a region before the rotational axis of the front wheels and a lower third of the height of the combine harvester to its rear being arranged in the top rear half portion of the combine harvester.

    • A combine harvester comprises a threshing and separating mechanism mounted to a main frame, which includes a generally cylindrical chamber having a generally longitudinal axis, and a separating concave assembly. The arrangement further includes a rotor assembly mounted for rotation in the chamber and comprising a generally cylindrical rotor body with a separating section associated with the separating concave assembly. The separating mechanism further comprises a beater assembly arranged behind the concave assembly for receiving threshed and separated crop material therefrom and projecting it rearwardly. The beater assembly comprises a transverse guide mounted behind the separating concave assembly and below the rotor body, and a transverse beater rotor. The chamber comprises a curved guide plate arranged behind the separating concave assembly and above the guide. This guide plate distributes the separated crop material over the full width of the guide in order to minimize the chance that material starts accumulating in the one or other corner and the separating system gets plugged.

The transferring drum in its region preceding the drawing-in opening of the separating housing is provided with a plurality of drivers which are arranged on a periphery of the transferring drum and are offset relative to one another similarly to the threshing segments of the threshing drum.

    • In an axial flow rotary separator, each radially extending finger-like crop-engaging element of the rotor is individually and obliquely journaled on a fixed eccentric shaft. Push bars spaced 90 degrees apart rotate about the axis of the separator to drive the fingers so that the finger tips describe a circular path eccentric to the separator casing and inclined to its axis. The plane of rotation of the fingers and the speed of rotation of the rotor are chosen so that the fingers maintain the crop material in an annular mat in contact with the inside wall of the casing and propel it spirally downstream. Finger element bearing housings are split for convenient assembly and repair.

    • A drive mechanism for rotatably powering a rotary cleaning device for cleaning threshed grain in a combine harvester is disclosed wherein a cleaning cylinder, an infeed mechanism, a fan, and an impeller are rotatable about a common axis of rotation defined by a composite drive shaft that includes a first shaft member having a tubular portion and a second shaft member rotatably received within the tubular portion for rotation independently of the first shaft member. Pulleys keyed to the first and second shaft members rotatably drive the infeed mechanism and the impeller. The fan and the cleaning cylinder are driven by pulleys rotatably mounted on the composite shaft for rotation independently thereof, thereby permitting each component to be driven at different rotational speeds. A mechanism for reciprocatably moving the cleaning shoes during rotation of the cleaning cylinder is also operatively powered by the rotation of the composite drive shaft.
