    • An agricultural seeding implement comprises a plurality of furrowing devices independently supported by respective suspension members on a frame for movement together with the frame in a forward working direction. A pressurizing system is arranged to provide a flow of fluid under pressure from a source of liquid associated with the frame to a fluid nozzle assembly of each furrowing device. In a preferred embodiment, each fluid nozzle assembly comprises two furrowing nozzles oriented to direct the respective flow of fluid under pressure downwardly towards the ground to form a common furrow in the ground associated with the fluid nozzle assembly. A seed tube is supported rearwardly of each furrowing device so as to be arranged to deposit seed in the furrow formed by the furrowing device.

    • The present invention is directed at an improved method of planting trees. The method consists of first providing a plurality of seed capsules, each seed capsule comprising a seed contained in a liquid medium enclosed in a sealed frangible capsule. The seed capsuled are in the hopper portion of a launch mechanism, the launch mechanism having a launcher operatively coupled to the hopper for launching the seed capsules. The seeds are then planted on the ground by individually launching the seed capsules at the ground at a velocity selected to burst the frangible capsule of the seed capsules when the seed capsules hit the ground.

    • A field planting system for use in conjunction with large span and wheel tower irrigation apparatus to place seed in a field across a number of rows simultaneously. Seed is suspended uniformly in a gel solution and injected into a stream of carrier water. The seeds, suspended in water, travel in piping separate from irrigation piping to a manifold suspended from the overhead span section. Each manifold distributes seed and carrier water to a plurality of drop tubes. A tube valve located in each drop tube is closed to permit the manifold to be charged with seeds and water under pressure. Once the manifold is charged, the tube valves open simultaneously and the water and seed discharges from the manifold through drop tubes to a planting shoe. The planting shoe includes a forward nozzle to emit a high pressure stream of water to excavate a small trench or furrow into which the seed is dispensed. A perforated metal tube angling rearwardly from the drop tube dissipates the energy of the carrier water to assure that the seed is not washed from the trench. A trench closer trails the planting shoe to push some of the dislodged soil over the seed and cover the furrow.

    • Apparatus for introducing an additive into a drilling mud system, which includes a hopper for containing the additive mounted substantially over a flow line for the flow of mud from the system therethrough. The hopper has a funnel-shaped lower portion terminating in a neck connected to the flow line. The neck of the funnel-shaped lower portion has a variable size orifice to control the rate of the flow of additive therethrough. A nozzle is provided in the flow line substantially below the neck for mixing the additive with the mud. A vibrator is provided for vibrating the lower portion of the hopper to encourage movement of the additive toward the neck. An air nozzle is provided for fluidizing the additive.
