    • A high volume, low pressure air system for atomizing a fluid, such as paint, includes, among other things, a variable jet venturi induction pump which generates low pressure air for powering one or more atomizing devices, such as spray guns, with the intake of the induction pump being located a predetermined distance away from the atomizing devices so that overspray produced thereby is prevented from being fed along with ambient air into the induction pump. The system also controls the supply of compressed air and can be equipped with a compressed air driven intake fan for turbo charging the ambient air fed to the jet venturi induction pump. A booster source of regulated low pressure air is also coupled to the feedline(s) coupled to the individual atomizing devices to augment the low pressure air generated by the jet venturi induction pump for certain spraying tasks.

    • An spray gun extension used in the application of liquids such as paints and other coatings, cleaning solutions, solvents, blasting agents, solvents, sealants, lubricants and pesticides in high volume low pressure spraying. The extension allow the application of such liquids to areas above, below, around, behind, or into devices or fixtures not visible and otherwise inaccessible to the applicator. The extension is rotatively mounted to the spray gun. A spray head is rotatively mounted on the extension. A variety of spray nozzles may be used, including a fixed nozzle, and a nozzle which may be used to vary the spray pattern width and fan shape. Liquid flow is controlled by a needle valve near the end of the extension. The extension may be used to spray straight ahead or at any angle including back toward the spray gun.

    • Apparatus for converting high pressure, low volume air to low pressure, high volume filtered air in order to successfully atomize fluids, such as paint, of various viscosities. The invention makes it possible to utilize safe, economical compressor air to atomize fluids by a portable enclosure including a variable jet venturi induction pump which separates the pump from the area of application and other potentially contaminating elements. Ambient air is introduced into the portable enclosure after regulation and filtration. A low pressure field is established in the induction pump by increasing the velocity of the compressor air in a venturi section of the pump but is free of contaminates generated, for example, by overspray in the vicinity of the area of application.

The spray gun of this invention has a fluid flow assembly which may be readily removed to facilitate cleaning. In addition, this spray gun has an external fluid flow assembly packing gland adjustment nut, which allows frequent convenient adjustment of the packing gland without disassembly of the spray gun. This allows the user to maintain free movement of the needle valve shaft while preventing leakage of fluid into the spray gun body.
