    • A module for quickly and easily connecting and disconnecting electrical wires comprises a nonconductive housing having a first connector compartment for housing a first plurality of wire connectors and a second connector compartment for housing a second plurality of wire connectors. A plurality of actuators are independently and slidably mounted in the first and second connector compartments. Each of the actuators is associated with one of the wire connectors and is movable between a first position wherein a wire may be received in or removed from the actuator, and a second position wherein a received wire is electrically connected to the associated wire connector, whereby both incoming and outgoing wires may be quickly and easily connected to each other.

    • A protector system is provided for use in a low voltage power feed arrangement including a device requiring a low voltage power feed, and a power source. The power source is capable of supplying the device with electrical power. The device is electrically connected to the power source by means of a power transmission line. A line protector set is electrically connected to the power transmission line between the device and the power source so that all power in the power transmission line must encounter the line protector before the power reaches the device. The line protector set comprises an over-voltage arrester and an over-current arrester. The over-voltage arrester is coupled in circuit for grounding the transmission line in the presence of an over-voltage condition. The over-current arrester comprises a positive temperature coefficient resistor electrically connected in series with the device for preventing over-currents on the transmission line from reaching the device.

    • A method and apparatus for sealing a splice enclosure to protect cable splice connections retained therein. The sealing member is a single piece body integrally formed of a suitable material which resists detrimental environmental effects and is resiliently compressible in an axial direction to seal the splice enclosure. Axial compression of the sealing member is employed to create sealing forces both about the outer periphery of the sealing member and between the sealing member and cables projecting therethrough. Reentry into the enclosure does not require destruction of the sealing member and does not require tapes, adhesives or other materials and is hence very time, labor and material efficient.

    • A digital transmission system which serves a multiplicity of subscribers by a multiplicity of channel units. Each channel unit serves up to two subscribers. At each end of the system, there is included a signaling processing unit (SPU) which provides both time slot interchanging and change in format for the signaling information. At each end of the system, there is another unit (TRU) which provides time slot interchanging for the nonsupervisory information for each subscriber. The channel units are arranged in channel banks for four groups of units each. Each channel bank is connected to the SPU by two single lines over one of which all the supervisory (signaling, provisioning and testing) information for the units in the bank is transmitted and over the other of which all the supervisory information from the units is transmitted. The TRU is connected to each group in the bank by a pair of lines.

    • A network interface cabinet for large pair count telephone terminations comprises a generally rectilinear cabinet including parallel and spaced top and bottom walls and two pairs of parallel spaced apart sidewalls forming respective front, rear and lateral walls running between and joining the top and bottom walls. At least one access opening is in one of the sidewalls, and a door selectively covers and exposes the access opening for access to the inside of the cabinet. A lock is operatively coupled with the door and the cabinet for controlling access to the inside of the cabinet. Hinges are located interiorly of the cabinet for hingedly mounting at least one equipment panel therewithin for accepting telephone termination, connection and protector equipment, and for permitting access to wiring at both front and rear surfaces of the panel. At least one opening in another of the sidewalls is provided for running cabling between one or more similar cabinets located in a side-by-side arrangement. Panels cover the sidewall openings when not in use. At least one opening in each of said top and bottom walls accommodates incoming and outgoing cables and wiring, and corresponding removable panels are provided for selectively exposing or covering these openings. Suitable mounting structures are provided for mounting the cabinet securely to a floor or other surface, and a grounding system is provided interiorly of the cabinet for grounding of cable jackets and the like entering the cabinet.

    • A ringing switch for providing ringing voltage and tripping voltage to the cable pairs of a telephone central office. The switch synchronizes the control signal from a cadence generator with the zero crossing of the ringing voltage to ensure that the voltage at the switch output changes from the ringing voltage to the tripping voltage or vice versa only when the ringing voltage crosses the tripping voltage. Field effect transistors are used to switch the ringing voltage and a silicon controlled rectifier is used to switch the tripping voltage.

    • A three phase loss protection circuit for a three phase rectifier. The rectifier includes a circuit which inhibits its operation when either of two of the three phases are lost. In response to the loss of the third phase, the loss protection circuit causes one of the other two phases to be lost at the input to the inhibiting circuit. The loss protection circuit does not interfere with the operation of the inhibiting circuit when either of the two phases are lost. In an alternative embodiment, the loss protection circuit includes circuitry to ensure that the rectifier is inhibited even though part of a lost phase may be recreated by the rectifier's input filter.
