摘要： A fiber preform for use in a resin transfer molding or liquid composite molding process and process of making the same are provided. The preform includes a substrate, a fiber bundle arranged on the substrate in a predetermined pattern and attached to the substrate by a plurality of stitches of a thread. The fiber preform is capable of being pre-formed into a three-dimensional shape. The fiber preform along with a sheet of preformed thermoset resin that impregnates at least a portion of the fiber preform forms a composite material. The fiber preform reinforces areas of stress concentration of a core to form a vehicle component.

摘要： A loop hold-down device for a flat bed knitting machine incorporates a carrier member attachable to the needle actuating carriage of the machine, two spaced parallel rods rotatable about their axes and also reciprocable in the carrier member in a direction which is vertical when the carrier member is attached to said movable carriage and a loop hold-down element attached to and projecting from the lowermost end of each rod. Each rod is slidable in a sleeve which is itself rotatable but restrained against reciprocation in the carrier member, each rod being entrained by the sleeve to rotate therewith. A driving band interconnects the two sleeves whereby to cause both sleeves to rotate together, two sliding blocks are slidable vertically in the carrier member, each block engaging a respective rod and each formed with a cam follower engageable with a cam surface located at each end of the ned of the knitting machine whereupon each cam follower causes the associated rod to reciprocate in the sleeve. An actuating bar is connected to the driving band and is engageable alternately with an abutment located at each end of the knitting machine as the carriage moves to and fro so that the bar is also movable to and fro in the carrier member, moving with it the driving band.

摘要： A recyclable thread or yarn having a dissolvable fiber and an insoluble fiber is provided and incorporated into a woven article, garment or textile. The dissolvable fiber and the insoluble fiber are twisted to form the thread or yarn. The dissolvable fiber may be a synthetic water soluble polymer and may dissolve in water at between 60° C. and 100° C. The insoluble fiber may be cotton such as extra-long staple (ELS) cotton or Supima cotton. A process for recycling a woven article, garment or textile made with the recyclable thread or yarn is also provided. The process for recycling a woven article, garment or textile made with the recyclable thread or yarn includes subjecting the woven article, garment or textile in water to a condition to cause said dissolvable fiber to lose long range order to form a slurry or solution.

A method of forming a unitary reinforced composite component from the form is further provided. The resulting component having high strength and light weight and being efficient to manufacture.

摘要： A unitary reinforced composite based panel component, and methods of construction thereof is provided. The unitary reinforced panel component eliminates the need for adhesively joining an offset piece to the backside of a panel, to provide additional reinforcing strength thereby improving efficiency and eliminating bond-line read-through (BLRT). A vehicle component is prepared with resort to a preform made of selective comingled fiber bundle positioning (SCFBP) to selectively place co-mingled fibers that are enriched in carbon fiber as a reinforcement relative to other region that rely on a relatively higher percentage of glass fiber reinforcement to create such a preform.
