    • The skiing boot is connected to the ski by a separate soleplate, which in each of its forward and rear portions has at least one soleholder and to which the skiing boot is secured so as to be only arbitrarily adjustable. A plate holder is mounted on the ski and comprises a pivot bearing for the soleplate adjacent to the rear half of the latter. Adjacent to the rear end of the soleplate, the plate holder is provided with an element of a detent device, which in response to an overload in a vertical and/or horizontal direction releases the soleplate. Adjacent to the forward portion of the soleplate the plate holder is provided with a member for holding down the soleplate. The female detent element of the detent device is part of the plate holder. The male detent element of the detent device is provided on the soleplate. The soleplate is provided with raised side cheeks adjacent to the detent device. The male detent element, the spring acting on said male detent element, and the bracket for the rear soleholder are mounted on said side cheeks.

    • A device for connecting a sailmast to a sailboard comprises a mast-connecting universal joint, which is connected at one end to the mast and is permanently fixed thereto or can be only arbitrarily separated therefrom and is connected at its other end to a supporting member, which when the device is in position for use is received at least in part by a recess in the upper surface of the sailboard so as to be positively connected thereto. To provide for an overload coupling, the supporting member is constantly biased by a spring so that the positive connection can be eliminated only when the spring force is overcome.

    • A baseplate is mounted on the upper surface of the ski adjacent to the heel of the skiing boot and extends normally in the longitudinal direction of the ski and is rotatable on a vertical axis against a preferably adjustable resistance. A boot carrier is hinged to the baseplate at the forward end of the latter and holds the skiing boot so that the latter is only arbitrarily detachable. The rear end of the boot carrier is lifted from the baseplate against a preferably adjustable resistance. The boot carrier comprises a frame and extends across the baseplate adjacent to the skiing boot. The forward end member of the frame constitutes a hinge pin, which is rotatably mounted on the baseplate. The rear ends of the baseplate and boot carrier are connected by a spring-loaded tension cable and winder assembly.

    • 1,141,595. Toe-iron for safety ski-bindings. H. MARKER. 24 May, 1966 [4 June, 1965], No. 23180/66. Heading A6D. A toe-iron for safety ski bindings with a damping arrangement for lateral jolts, comprises a base part 1 mounted rigidly on a ski, a sole retainer 7 which has flanges 13 and 14, which engage on the projection 2 of part 1, being guided and held in the groove 3 of the projection 2 by pin members 9 and 10 on which are mounted rollers 11 and 12. The sole retainer 7 is capable of describing a circular path having a radius 6 i.e. the radius of the groove 3, and under certain conditions, it is possible for the rollers 11 or 12 to move into the curve branches 4 or 5 causing the sole-retainer 7 to perform a forwardly directed tipping movement which ensure the release of the foot. Another embodiment is described in which additionally projections on the sole retainer are braced against a guide path of the base part and during the tipping movement the projections on the sole retainer slide over the corners of the guide path, making it possible for the corners to move into the gap between the projections on the sole retainer.
