    • The light source unit (lid), which is substantially a right triangle, is supported to be freely rotatable via the hinge at the bottom of the main body casing. The light source for illumination and the assist roller are arranged in the light source unit. When operating the scanner system, the scanning window is opened by rotating the light source unit. When not operating, the scanning window is closed by rotating the light source unit to the right bottom of the main body casing, and the scanning face is protected. Moreover, the magnets are used to lock and hold the light source unit in the opening state or the closing state. The main power source is turned on when the opening state of the lid is detected by the Hall sensor or the reed switch, and the scanner system becomes operatable.

    • Described herein is an apparatus for and a method of performing image-drawing processing on image-drawn objects such as at least characters or graphics with the image-drawn objects as an input. The apparatus comprises a list generating device that generates a list of image-drawn factor elements constituting the image-drawn objects, an image-drawn factor elements sorting device that classifies the image-drawn factor elements by use of reference values constant to information about the lengths of the image-drawn factor elements constituting the list, an image-drawn factor elements storing device that stores the classified image-drawn factor elements therein so as to correspond to the reference values, a plurality of image-drawing processing devices that perform parallel image-drawing processing on the image-drawn factor elements, an image-drawing area allocating device that divides an image drawing area into pieces and assigning the divided image-drawing areas to the image-drawing processing devices, an image-drawn factor elements transfer controlling device that transfers the image-drawn factor elements from the image-drawn factor elements storing device to said image-drawing processing device in association with the reference values, and a synthesizing and outputting device that synthesizes results of the image-drawing processing on the image-drawn factor elements by the image-drawing processing device and outputting the result of synthesis therefrom.

    • A laser optical system comprises a laser beam source, a beam diameter adjusting member disposed in the optical path of a laser beam emitted by the laser beam source and having an aperture through which only the center portion of the laser beam is to be passed, a converging lens for converging the laser beam passing through the aperture of the beam diameter adjusting member, and a spatial filter disposed in the vicinity of a convergence position of the laser beam for restricting the passage of the laser beam in at least one-dimension and allowing passage of only a zero-order light component converged to a predetermined position. Alternatively, the laser optical system comprises a laser beam source, and a density distribution filter disposed in the optical path of the laser beam emitted by the laser beam source for allowing passage of only the center portion of the laser beam in at least one-dimensional direction and gradually decreasing the transmittance toward the peripheral portion of the laser beam.

    • A light guide member comprises three optical blocks. The first optical block is provided with a light input face positioned close to and approximately in parallel with a stimulable phosphor sheet carrying a radiation image stored therein, and a light output face parallel with the light input face. The second optical block is provided with a light input face slightly spaced apart from the light output face of the first optical block, a dichroic optical plane extending upward from one end of the light input face at an angle of approximately 45.degree., and a light output face extending downward from an upper end of the dichroic optical plane. The dichroic optical plane transmits stimulating rays and reflects light emitted by the stimulable phosphor sheet upon exposure to stimulating rays. The third optical block is provided with a light input face slightly spaced apart from the light output face of the second optical block, and upper and lower total reflection planes extending horizontally from upper and lower ends of the light input face.
