摘要： A method of providing an end fitting in the end portion of a hose, by forming a mould around the hose end portion, so that the end portion is a part of the mould, and then injecting a hardenable material into the mould so that the moulded part is moulded to the end portion. The bore of the hose may be closed by a removable plug prior to the moulding. An end fitting nut may be positioned around the end portion to form a part of the mould, and the nut may be threaded on the plug; prior to the plug being used to close the bore of the hose.

摘要： A conveyor having a belt and continuous bearing elements near the lateral edges of the belt to support the belt, in which there is means to supply fluid under pressure to the gaps between the bearing elements and the belt to form a fluid bearing for the belt. The bearing elements may have convex surfaces, and the belt may have cooperating concave surfaces of very slightly smaller concavity, whereby the gaps are narrowest at the edges of the bearing elements. Preferably, the bearing elements are hollow and there is means to supply pressurized fluid to the hollow elements, and thence to the gaps between the bearing elements and the belt.

摘要： The specification discloses a method of manufacturing an insert for an end fitting from a length of tubular material, the insert having a B.S.P. nipple or like nipple on the end thereof, comprising the steps of forming, by means of a first punch which is inserted within the tube and co-operates with a first die located around the length adjacent one end of the tube, an enlargement of the bore of the tube at the one end thereof and an external annular abutment facing axially away from the one end where the enlargement joins the tube, and then forming the enlargement at the one end to provide the required external sealing face of the nipple. There is also disclosed a hose end fitting comprising an insert made by this method combined with a ferrule surrounding at least part of the insert and defining with the other end thereof an annular space for receiving an end portion of a hose, the end of the ferrule remote from the other end of the insert being swaged inwardly to engage the insert and hold the ferrule against relative axial movement with respect to the insert.

The outer surface of each finger may have two portions tapered in opposite senses, and the swaging member may be located between two plates each having an aperture tapered in the same sense as the respective adjacent tapered portion, so that the fingers are compressed radially inwardly as the plates are moved towards one another.
