    • The invention relates to pressurised dispensing apparatus which includes a container for product to be dispensed, and a valve for controlling outflow of product from the container. The valve includes a valve body located within the container. The container has an open ended container body, and a closure fixedly attached to said container body for closing the open end thereof. The closure has an annular sidewall extending around at least an upper end of the container body. First and second seals are provided, wherein the first seal provides a barrier against the ingress of moisture into the container and the second seal provides a barrier against leakage of the product from the container.

    • An atomizing pump (FIG. 1) has a piston (3) slidable in a cylinder (5) to expel liquid from a pump chamber (4). A valve member (8) is slidable in a stem (6) of the piston defining a liquid delivery duct (7). A separately formed cylindrical extension (11) of the valve member is movable in and out of sealing contact with the valve member to open and close a liquid inlet port (105) to the chamber (4). The valve member has a core (102) projecting within the cylindrical extension and having a projecting stop formation (103) which co-operates with a stop formation (104) on the cylindrical extension to limit lost motion between the valve member and cylindrical extension. The valve member is biased into an extended position by a spring acting on the stop member projecting from the core so that the spring extends between the core and the cylindrical extension. This arrangement helps maintain alignment between the pump components and resists buckling of the spring. A bottom end of the cylindrical extension makes sliding contact with an internal wall of a tubular extension (16) of the pump body, continuous sliding contact being maintained to prevent clogging when dispensing water based products.

    • Upper and lower hollow cylinders communicate with each other. The diameter of the upper cylinder is larger than that of the lower cylinder. The lower cylinder has an opening through which fluid to be dispensed can be introduced. A piston has an upper vertical hollow cylindrical section open at opposite ends with a first extension in peripheral sealing engagement with the inner surface of the upper cylinder and a lower extension in peripheral sealing engagement with the inner surface of the lower cylinder. An aperture is located in the second extension between its ends. A vertical stem is slidable within and extends through the upper section of the piston. The stem has an enlargement spaced below its upper end. A vertical discharge conduit is coaxial with the piston and stem. An actuator is disposed above the upper cylinder, being secured to the upper end of the stem and having a horizontal discharge channel which communicates with the discharge conduit. The actuator slidably receives the upper end of the upper section of the piston in a region defining a gap. The stem is biased by a spring to close the discharge conduit and to position the enlargement above the aperture when the dispenser is in rest position. The spring is disposed outside the cylinders to exert an upwardly directed biasing force against the actuator and against the upper end of the stem. The piston and actuator can be interconnected in such manner that the dispenser can be placed in locked down position without actuation. This interconnection can be used regardless of the placement of the spring outside or inside the cylinders.

    • Dispensing apparatus (1) for dispensing a liquid product (24) from a pressurized dispensing container (21) comprises a collapsible chamber metering valve (2) in which an elastomeric sleeve (4) overlays an external surface (53) of the valve body (6) to define a metering chamber (7) therebetween and is collapsible on actuation of the valve into substantially conformal contact with the external surface such that a volume of liquid is dispensed which is equal to the volume of liquid displaced from the metering chamber. The valve is nestably received within a cup (3) with seal means (15) operable between the mouth of the cup and an outer end of the valve such that a closed collecting chamber (11) is defined between the valve and the cup. Means (25) are provided to communicate in use between the collecting chamber and that part of the container in which a liquid product is contained when the container is held in a predetermined orientation for operation of the valve. The apparatus allows accurate doses of liquids to be dispensed using compressed gas propellant such as nitrogen.
