摘要： Remarkable suppression of the formation of pollutants: NO.sub.x, CO and UHC, in the flameless combustion of gaseous fuel with excess air is achieved by passing the fuel and air through a porous surface combustor directly into an adiabatic zone, and by controlling the amount of excess air to be greater than about 50% but not greater than about 150% in excess of the stoichiometric requirement. The furnace with the adiabatic zone for the suppression of pollutants will preferably have a refractory body as part of the adiabatic zone.

摘要： A fully premixed duct burner is provided that receives exhaust gas from a power generating device, such as a gas turbine or reciprocating engine. The burner may include a burner surface adapted to combust the mixture on or above the surface in blue-flame mode. Substantially all exhaust gas passes through the burner with the exception of some small fraction of exhaust gas that passes through cooling holes or slots. The burner assembly can also include an array of burner modules that receive substantially all of the exhaust gas and fully premixes the exhaust gas with burner fuel prior to combusting the mixture on or above an array of burner surfaces.

A temperature sensor positioned in the air stream before it mixes with the fuel is connected to a converter which transmits converted temperature signals from the sensor as adjustments of a remote control, secondary valve in the fuel line downstream of a primary valve regulating the flow of fuel. Fuel temperature fluctuations can also be converted into adjustments of the remote control, secondary valve.

摘要： The disposal of troublesome substances, especially global-warming halogenated compounds is difficult enough, but is particularly difficult when associated with particulate-forming matter, such as silane and arsine commonly encountered in waste gas streams of the semiconductor industry. The combustive destruction of the troublesome substances in such a waste gas stream is simply and successfully achieved by injecting the stream admixed with fuel gas into a combustion zone surrounded by the radiant surface of a foraminous gas burner that is separately fed fuel gas and excess air sufficient to burn all the combustibles entering the combustion zone. A simple apparatus integrates the combustion zone with a quenching zone for the combustion product stream.

More particularly, and in one preferred embodiment, the present disclosure is directed to a waste gas abatement system that utilizes a combination of non-combustible and combustible gases (or gas mixtures) for thermal combustion, which are directed through multiple permeable interior surfaces of a reaction chamber, efficiently combusting waste gas and preventing undesirable accumulation of solid particulate matter on the chamber surfaces.

The perforated filter base and pin support base are moved apart to retract the pins from contact with the perforated layer of chopped fibers which is transferred to a drier operating at a temperature not exceeding 650.degree. F., for conversion into a strong perforated plate.

The pilot unit is for an abatement apparatus configured to abate an effluent stream from a semiconductor processing tool. the pilot unit comprises: a housing retaining a foraminous pilot surface. the housing and foraminous pilot surface defining a plenum which is configured to convey fuel and oxidant from a corresponding housing inlet and through that foraminous pilot surface: and an ignitor configured to ignite the fuel and oxidant when exiting the foraminous pilot surface. In this way. rather than having an ignition flame combusting from a nozzle. an ignition flame is provided across the foraminous pilot surface which provides for a more reliable ignition source for the abatement apparatus.
