    • An attachment apparatus which can be detachably mounted to a self-propelled vehicle, such as a skid-steer front end loader. The apparatus includes a frame which can be attached to the lift arms of the front end loader, and an axially rotatable work implement. The work implement may be positioned in at least two dimensions with respect to the frame by hydraulic cylinders. Secondary hydraulic lines which extend from each of the hydraulic cylinders, and a primary hydraulic line are hydraulically joined by a manifold. Electrically actuated valves connected to the manifold selectively provide communication between the primary hydraulic line and one of the secondary hydraulic lines to thereby control movement of the apparatus in each of the available dimensions. The control system requires that only one set of hydraulic cables be connected to the hydraulic pressure source of the vehicle, which simplifies attachment and removal of the apparatus, and provides safer operation, and reduced manufacturing costs.

    • A mower including a housing having a cutting apparatus such as a flail mower rotatably mounted therein. The mower includes a detector which determines during mower raising when the housing is positioned at least a predetermined distance above the ground surface directly below the housing. After passage of a time period during which the detector continuously detects that the housing is positioned at least the predetermined distance from the ground, a signal is sent to an actuator mechanism which interrupts the delivery of power to the motor rotating the cutting apparatus such that the flail mower comes to a stop. In one embodiment, a locking mechanism can be provided which prevents power from being reintroduced to the mower motor after the mower is lowered until the operator purposefully disengages the locking mechanism.

    • A rotary apparatus which can be detachably mountable to a self-propelled vehicle, such as a skid-steer front end loader. The apparatus includes opposing first and second frame members and an axially rotatable work implement having front and rear peripheries and left and right peripheries. The rotary apparatus provides a mechanism for supporting the work implement from the first and second frame members such that the front, rear, left and right peripheries may extend beyond the fronts of the frame members. A mechanism for shifting the position of the work implement in a direction parallel to a line between the first and second frame members is provided such that either one of the peripheries of the work implement may extend beyond the side edge of the first frame member. The capability to shift the work implement beyond the sides of the frame members allows the apparatus to be used to horizontally plane adjacent a vertical wall or obstruction, such as a curb.

    • The pavement planer of this invention is carried on the front ends of the twin lift arms of a skid-steer front end loader. It has a drum with radially projecting picks, confined to rotation in a box-like housing that is open at its bottom and is supported at its front center on a heightwise adjustable roller. Secured to the lift arms, spanning the distance between them, is an upright plate-like frame member that rides on a roller on each of its ends. The housing is so connected to the frame member as to be laterally adjustable relative to it and also tiltingly adjustable about a fore-and-aft extending axis. Both of those adjustments are effected by a single hydraulic cylinder jack connected between the housing and the upright frame member. In use, a down load on the lift arms imposes part of the weight of the carrying vehicle onto the pavement planer, to be supported by the three mentioned rollers.
