    • In apparatus for processing an information signal, such as, the chrominance component of a reproduced color video signal, time base errors composed of phase and frequency errors are eliminated by detecting phase and frequency errors, respectively, of the chrominance component, frequency converting the chrominance component with a frequency converting signal which is generated, at least in part, by means of a variable frequency oscillator, controlling such oscillator by an automatic phase control circuit (APC) in response to detected phase errors within a predetermined or lock-in range of the APC so as to eliminate such phase errors from the frequency converted chrominance component, and further controlling the variable frequency oscillator in response to only those detected frequency errors which correspond to time base errors beyond the lock-in range of the APC for returning to within such range.

    • Apparatus for eliminating time base errors from a carrier-modulated information signal, such as a color video signal which is reproduced from a record medium. A circuit including a variable oscillator generates a carrier signal of controllable frequency and phase. An automatic frequency control circuit detects the time base frequency error in the carrier-modulated information signal and produces a frequency error signal proportional to the detected frequency error. An automatic phase control circuit detects a time base phase error in the carrier-modulated information signal and produces a phase error signal proportional to the detected phase error. A switching circuit selectively supplies either the frequency error signal or the phase error signal as a control signal to the variable oscillator so as to correspondingly control the frequency and phase of the generated carrier signal in a manner to eliminate such frequency and phase errors, the frequency and phase error signals being supplied to the variable oscillator during selected, mutually exclusive intervals. A frequency converter is provided with the controlled carrier signal and with the information signal so as to convert the carrier of the information signal with the generated, controlled carrier such that the frequency-converted information signal has a carrier of substantially constant frequency and phase.

    • A color filter in accordance with the present invention comprises an activated film layer (2) arranged on a transparent substrate (1), said activated film layer (2) having a color pattern formed thereon by permeating a dye thereinto, and a thin metal film pattern (3) formed on a portion, of said activated film layer (2), which requires the formation of a black mask. Accordingly, the color filter integrated into various display devices such as a liquid crystal display is capable of displaying an image having a high contrast. Further, a method for forming a color filter in accordance with the present invention comprises the steps of forming an activated film layer (2) on a transparent substrate (1); permeating a dye into said activated film layer (2) to form a color pattern; and performing an electroless plating to form said thin metal film pattern (3) which functions as a black mask. Accordingly, the method in accordance with the present invention is capable of easily forming a color filter capable of displaying an image having a high contrast.
