    • Apparatus for feeding a bar or several bars in a vertical pile along a predetermined horizontal path extending through a bending station, where the bars are bent into desired shape. A first conveyor has mounted thereto a first gripper assembly, which releasably grips the bar or bars, for feeding successive requires lengths of the bar or bars to the bending station. Arranged collinearly with the first conveyor, a second conveyor has a second gripper assembly and coacts with the first conveyor for transporting the bar or bars through, and away from, the bending station with the progress of bar bending. The second gripper assembly is further movable up and down on the second conveyor. Upon completion of the bending of the bar or bars, the second gripper assembly grips the bent bar or bars while being lowered, then is raised for lifting the bar or bars out of engagement with the bending mechanism at the bending station, and then is transported by the second conveyor away from the bending station.

    • Two pairs of opposed feed rolls are rotatably mounted on the upstream and downstream sides, respectively, of a bar cutting mechanism with respect to the predetermined traveling direction of the bar. Each feed roll pair comprises a fixed feed roll on one side of the bar and a movable feed roll on the other side, with the movable feed roll being movable toward and away from the fixed feed roll. A drive mechanism constantly rotates each pair of opposed feed rolls, so that the bar is fed only when being pressed against the fixed feed roll by the movable feed roll. The feed roll pair on the downstream side of the cutting mechanism is further jointly movable laterally of the path of the bar against the force of a spring for lessening the load exerted thereon, and for preventing the bending of the bar, when the bar is being cut by the cutting mechanism. Each feed roll may be provided with a multiplicity of teeth arranged circumferentially thereon and resiliently biased radially outwardly for positive engagement with a regular pattern of ribs on the bar.

    • A data processing apparatus and card-sized data processing device that consume less power and operate more reliably. An antenna captures a radio wave sent from an external reader/writer device, and a receiver converts it into an electrical signal. From this electrical signal, a first power supply circuit produces a first supply voltage for use in analog circuits. A second power supply circuit produces a second supply voltage that is different from the first supply voltage, for use in memory circuits. A third power supply circuit produces a third supply voltage that is different from the other voltages, for use in digital circuits. The memory and digital circuits thus operate with different supply voltages optimized for their individual requirements. Total power consumption of the device is reduced by lowering the voltage for the digital circuits, including MPU, while giving a higher voltage to the memory circuits.
