摘要： Systems and methods are disclosed for adjusting Radio Link Monitoring (RLM), Radio Link Failure (RLF) detection, RLF recovery, and/or connection establishment failure detection for wireless devices in a cellular communications network depending on mode of operation. In one embodiment, a node in the cellular communications network determines whether a wireless device (e.g., a Machine Type Communication (MTC) device) is to operate in a long range extension mode of operation or a normal mode of operation. The node then applies different values for at least one parameter depending on whether the wireless device is to operate in the long range extension mode or the normal mode. The at least one parameter includes one or more RLM parameters, one or more RLF detection parameters, and/or one or more RLF recovery parameters. In doing do, signaling overhead and energy consumption when operating in the long range extension mode is substantially reduced.

摘要： A method and network node (800) for controlling power of uplink transmissions from a user node (802) when switching between a first operating mode and a second operating mode. The network node (800) signals to the user node (802) a first value of a maximum allowed transmit power to be applied when operating in the first operating mode and a second value of the maximum allowed transmit power to be applied when operating in the second operating mode. The user node (802) then uses a transmit power not exceeding the first value when transmitting radio signals in the first operating mode, and uses a transmit power not exceeding the second value when transmitting radio signals in the second operating mode. Thereby, the user node (802) itself regulates the transmit power depending on operating mode without requiring further signalling from the network node (800).

An element is added to the radio access capabilities reported by the UE, to indicate in a release-independent manner if a certain network signaling parameter (e.g., NS-value) has been modified or if a new parameter has been introduced for an operating band. In this manner, the base station can distinguish UE with a modified NS-value behavior from legacy UE for the purpose of admission control, imposing scheduling or handover restrictions, or the like.

An example method, implemented by a wireless device in a wireless communication network, comprises waking up (510) in advance of a scheduled DRX on-time, and outside of any other scheduled DRX on-time, for at least one measurement interval, performing (520) radio link measurements during the at least one measurement interval, and determining (530) whether the wireless device is in an in-synch or out-of-synch status. In some embodiments, the in-synch or out-of-synch status and/or a radio-link failure are selectively reported to upper layers of the mobile terminal's protocol stack, e.g., to an RRC layer.

摘要： Systems and methods are disclosed for triggering a long range extension mode of operation for a wireless device in a cellular communications network. In one preferred embodiment, the wireless device is a Machine Type Communication (MTC) device. In one embodiment, a node in the cellular communications network determines that the wireless device is to operate in the long range extension mode if there is difficulty in establishing communication between the wireless device and the cellular communications network. If the wireless device is to operate in the long range extension mode, the node activates one or more long range extension mechanisms with respect to the wireless device such that the wireless device operates in the long range extension mode. In this manner, the long range extension mode is selectively triggered for the wireless device.

摘要： Methods and apparatus are disclosed for transmitting data to a remote node via each of two or more transmitted carrier signals, wherein a distinct outbound packet data traffic channel is mapped to each transmitted carrier signal. In an exemplary method, aggregated control channel data is formed by combining control channel data corresponding to each of two or more received carrier signals, simultaneously transmitting traffic channel data to the remote node on each of the two or more outbound packet data traffic channels, and transmitting the aggregated control channel data using one or more physical control channels mapped to a first one of the transmitted carrier signals. In particular, these methods and apparatus may be applied to a multi-carrier High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA) system.

The radio access capability is transmitted via an information element that comprises a bitmap in which a bit has a value that indicates, to the base station, support of a modification to at least one of a maximum power reduction or a spectrum emission requirement.
