    • A stepping motor includes a rotor assembly and a stator assembly including two stator units axially coupled to each other. The two stator units each include a pair of yokes which each include a base portion and a plurality of pole teeth extending from the base portion and which are disposed such that each of the pole teeth of one yoke and each of the pole teeth of the other yoke are arranged alternately in the circumferential direction. The pole teeth are shaped symmetric and each include a pair of slant sides inclined so as to become closer to each other with an increase of distance from the base portion, and the slant sides of adjacent pole teeth are located close to each other wherein a magnetic pole gap between the adjacent pole teeth pole teeth is about 0.2 times as large as the thickness of the pole teeth.

    • A numerically controlled transfer machine comprises a rotary index table having thereon a plurality of jig tables for holding workpieces, and a plurality of working units are disposed in spaced relation around the index table so that rotary indexing of the index table successively positions the jig tables opposite different ones of the working units. Each working unit includes a positioning feed mechanism for controlling the feeding and return movements of the working unit to enable a working operation to be carried out on the workpieces. Each working unit has a position detector comprised of a microswitch mounted on a slide member slidably mounted on the working unit. A biasing spring urges the slide member in the direction of return movement of the working unit and a stopper comes into contact with and actuates the microswitch during the course of return movement to thereby feed an origin reference signal to the positioning feed mechanism to effect positioning of the working unit at a preselected origin return position. In the event of continued return movement past the origin return position, the stopper comes into contact with and pushes the slide member against the force of the biasing spring thereby preventing damage to the microswitch.

    • A magnetic disk cartridge has a plastic cartridge case which houses a magnetic disk. The magnetic disk is connected to a disk hub which projects through an opening in the bottom of the cartridge case. An upwardly extending tapered wall extends around the periphery of the opening, and a tapered plastic ring is attached to and encircles the disk hub. During non-use of the magnetic disk cartridge, a spring urges the disk hub downwardly so that the tapered plastic ring frictionally engages with the tapered wall with a wedging action to seal the clearance formed at the opening between the disk hub and the cartridge case. During use, the disk hub is displaced upwardly against the spring force to disengage the tapered plastic ring from the tapered wall and the disk hub is rotationally driven to rotate the magnetic disk.
