    • The present invention provides a photothermographic material having, on at least one side of a support, an image forming layer including at least a photosensitive silver halide, a non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a first reducing agent for silver ions, and a first binder, and a non-photosensitive outermost layer which is disposed on the same side of the support as the side having thereon the image forming layer, wherein the photothermographic material further has a non-photosensitive intermediate layer A between the image forming layer and the outermost layer, and the non-photosensitive intermediate layer A includes at least a second reducing agent for silver ions and a second binder. A photothermographic material which gives an image with high image quality and has improved film physical properties is provided.

    • An image forming method using a photothermographic material including, on at least one side of a support, an image forming layer containing at least a photosensitive silver halide, a first non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a reducing agent, and a binder, and at least one non-photosensitive layer disposed on the same side as the image forming layer and farther from the support than the image forming layer, wherein the non-photosensitive layer contains a second organic silver salt which is different from the first non-photosensitive organic silver salt, and the photothermographic material is thermally developed for 3 seconds to 20 seconds after imagewise exposure. An image forming method with excellent resistance to stain before exposure, raw stock storability, and resistance to defects after processing is provided.

    • The invention provids a black-and-white photothermographic material comprising a support and an image-forming layer containing a photosensitive silver halide, a non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a reducing agent for silver ions, and a binder on one side of the support, wherein a hydrophilic binder constitutes 50 mass % or more of the binder. The non-photosensitive organic silver salt contains at least one kind selected from the group consisting of a silver salt of a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound and a silver salt of a mercapto compound. The photothermographic material comprises a fluorine compound having a fluorinated alkyl group with at least 2 carbon atoms and at most 12 fluorine atoms.

    • A development processing method comprising developing a silver halide photographic material with a developing solution, (i) wherein the silver halide photographic material comprises a support having thereon at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer and contains: (a) at least two kinds of light-sensitive silver halide emulsions which are each spectrally sensitized and have sensitivities different from each other with respect to a certain exposure wavelength; and (b) at least one hydrazine derivative in at least one of the silver halide emulsion layer and other hydrophilic colloidal layers, and (ii) wherein the developing solution is substantially free from a dihydroxybenzene compound, has a pH of from 9.0 to 10.5 and contains: (1) at least one ascorbic acid developing agent and (2) at least one auxiliary developing agent represented by the following general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4, which may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent group; and R.sub.5 and R.sub.6, which may be the same or different, each represents an alkyl group, an aryl group, an aralkyl group or a heterocyclic group.
