摘要： This invention relates to an ink-jet printer equipped with an ink-jet printhead and a control method and apparatus for the ink-jet printer. The printhead incorporates an EEPROM storing head information including the ink discharge amount characteristics of the printhead. The head information stored in this EEPROM is transmitted from the ink-jet printer having the printhead to the printer driver of a host computer. The printer driver then selects a gamma correction table in accordance with the head information. In this case, a gamma correction table is selected from a plurality of gamma correction tables in which pieces of correction information which make print densities uniform are stored in correspondence with ink discharge amounts. This table also includes correction data for correcting an increase in ink discharge amount to prevent beading due to an increase in ink discharge amount with a rise in the temperature of the printhead.

This ink jet head comprises evaporation suppressing groove in the vicinity of the discharge ports. 摘要： The present invention provides an ink-jet printing head, and an ink-jet printing apparatus and method which enable high-gradation and high-quality images to be printed using dots of different sizes. In an ink-jet printing head according to the present invention, at least one second nozzle has its center arranged on an imaginary line extending in a main-scanning direction of the printing head through the center of a first nozzle. The volume of an ink droplet ejected through the second nozzle is smaller than that of an ink droplet ejected through the first nozzle. Further, the number of second nozzles is larger than that of first nozzles.

摘要： An ink jet head comprises a plurality of discharge pressure generating elements serving as the discharge pressure source for discharging an ink droplet, an orifice plate having a plurality of ink discharge ports corresponding to the respective discharge pressure generating elements formed therefor, an ink supply port for supplying ink and a nozzle wall forming an ink flow path communicating the ink discharge ports with the ink supply port. The orifice plate and the nozzle wall are formed by resin material, and also, a thin metallic film is formed on the outer surface of the orifice plate. If desired, a water-repellent film is formed further on the surface of the thin metallic film. With the metallic film formed on the surface of the orifice plate, the moisture in ink is effectively prevented from being evaporated. Further, with the provision of the metallic film, it becomes possible to perform the eutectoid plating for the formation of the water-repellent film. With the head thus structured, it becomes possible to stably obtain excellent print quality.
