    • A connector is provided to reduce the transmission of shock from a housing to a HD via a connector in a notebook computer when the housing is dropped or hits something. The connector has a lower connector portion that is fixed to a print-circuit board and a guide axis, and an upper connector portion that is positioned above the lower connector portion with a vertical gap between itself and the lower connector portion to be slidable along the guide axis. To and from the front side of the upper connector portion, the terminal pins of the HD are inserted and pulled out. Upper ends of electric connection pins for the upper and lower rows can be inserted into pin insertion holes on the upper connector portion to be connected to the terminals of the HD, middle portion of the connection pins have U-shaped resilient portions, and lower ends protrude downward to the lower connector portion and are connected to the wires of the print-circuit board.

    • The invention broadly contemplates an apparatus that makes it possible to easily lift up and open a notebook type computer cover irrespective of a weight of the cover and stop the cover at a predetermined opened/closed position. A portable electronic apparatus includes: a main body provided with an input operating portion, a cover provided with a display unit, a hinge mechanism including a rotary shaft fixed to the cover and a support member fixed to the main body. The apparatus includes an electromagnetic mechanism having a permanent magnet and an electromagnet, in which the permanent magnet and the electromagnet are disposed with respect to the rotary shaft so that when the current is applied or not applied to the electromagnet, a repulsive or attractive force is generated which allows the rotary shaft to be in a rotatable state, and thereby allow an opening/closing torque to act on the cover.

Although a battery pack is susceptible to damage caused by an impact since partial battery cells are located outside the outline of a notebook PC when it is mounted on the notebook PC, the battery pack is provided with a partition wall structure including an air space and a fireproof wall formed of a material which does not melt at a temperature of combustible gas discharged from a gas discharge valve of the respective battery cells. The material of the fireproof wall is preferably mica or the like. The partition wall structure can be provided between an inside battery compartment and an outside battery compartment of the battery pack or can be provided among other battery cells. This prevents fire spreading to other battery cells even if high-temperature combustible gas is discharged from a battery cell damaged by an impact or the like.
