    • An air handling unit that includes a main support member and front, rear and top covers mounted on said support that forms a housing for enclosing said unit. The covers have side walls that close over the support frame in abutting contact to form an interlocking seam therebetween at closure. Ribs are mounted upon the side walls of the support frame which bias the side walls of the covers outwardly to render the seam relatively air tight at closure. Two covers are securely affixed to the main support member while the other is removably attached to the main support member by a latching means. A HEPA filter is mounted in the main support member along with a blower system for drawing air through said housing.

    • A bulb mounting for air handling equipment indicator bulbs that include at least a lamp base having a top flange. The mounting includes an air handling equipment support member having a hole, and retaining surface disposed a predetermined distance above an equipment support wall, that slidably receives the lamp base so that the flange rests on the retaining surface. The mounting further includes a top cover having an opening large enough to receive the bulb, and a tube shape that presses the flange against the retaining surface. The cover top side is disposed a predetermined distance above the flange, so that the bulb is positioned and secured a precise distance relative to the top of the cover and the equipment support wall. The equipment support member is sized so that the lamp base may also have a compressible peripheral surface that is slidably received by the equipment support member, and yet presses against the support member, further positioning and securing the bulb relative to the air handling equipment apparatus.

    • A method and apparatus utilizing a hot gas defrost system wherein superheated gas from the system compressor is conducted into a heat exchanger mounted within an accumulator for supplying heat to vaporize liquid refrigerant received from the evaporator. After the gas passes through the heat exchanger it is conducted to the condenser where it is condensed to a liquid and then routed to the evaporator. In the evaporator or frost accumulating coil the liquid refrigerant is subcooled, supplying heat to melt the ice formed on the evaporator surfaces and the liquid is thereafter conducted to the accumulator where the heat supplied from the heat exchanger acts to vaporize the fluid. The vaporized refrigerant is then recycled to the compressor to complete the system.

    • A connector plug (10, 20) for making electrical connection to the terminal assembly (40) of a hermetic compressor for an air conditioning or refrigeration system. The plug has a flexible skirt (15) that extends axially downward to fit snugly over the shoulder (43) of the body (41) of the terminal assembly when connected. An ear (16, 26) extends from the side wall (13) of the plug and has an engaging slot (17) which is sized and configured so that the engaging slot engages a stud (52) that extends from the compressor shell (51) in the vicinity of the terminal assembly when the plug is correctly installed on the terminal assembly. The ear may also include a cavity for receiving a thermal overload sensor (71) that may be associated with the compressors.

    • Apparatus for securing a heat transfer unit to either a wall or a ceiling is disclosed. A fastening panel forming a portion of the heat transfer unit further defines a series of projecting tabs having narrowed tab inclined portions connecting the tabs to the rear panel. Mounting brackets are provided having mounting openings with both wide and narrow portions. The openings are designed such that the tab inclined portion is secured within the mounting opening narrow portion with the tab body abutting a portion of the mounting bracket to maintain the fan coil unit in a secured horizontal position. The bracket might additionally be utilized to secure the unit in a vertical position as when mounting the unit to a wall.
